Kind of makes me wonder about the aspersions cast by the ex-head of the CP at others, even as I grant that others share the burden.

Quote
A Capitol officer who was present during the attack said the rank-and-file of the department feel demoralized and betrayed by leadership.

Officers were not “prepared whatsoever” to handle the mob that overwhelmed the Capitol and had no dedicated security briefing in advance, unlike with other major events, said the officer, who spoke on the condition of anonymity out of fear of retribution.

When officers were hit in the face with bear spray, they did not have the equipment or weapons to retaliate, he added.

“In my time as an officer, we have never failed so miserably than we did on that day,” the officer said. “We were failed by our management. . . . We were put in a situation to fail.”

He added: “It’s like trying to climb Mount Everest and they give you house slippers.”

GOP arguments for why one should not impeach are nonsensical.

“People thought what I said was totally appropriate,” Mr. Trump told reporters at Joint Base Andrews, en route to Alamo, Texas, where he was set to visit the border wall. Instead, Mr. Trump claimed that racial justice protests over the summer were “the real problem.”

“If you look at what other people have said, politicians at a high level about the riots during the summer, the horrible riots in Portland and Seattle and various other places, that was a real problem,” he said.

(From NYT, today)

The real problem in this household is not that I locked my wife and children in the basement and gave them all a good beating.  The real problem is that little Susy wrote in crayon on the window, PLEASE SEND HELP...

Just googled how many companies provide web hosting....

Worldwide, there are over 330,000 web hosting providers. GoDaddy holds nearly 20% of the market, followed by Amazon AWS, 1&1, and Hostgator. WordPress is the weapon of choice for most users, with 34% of all websites built on that platform.Nov 12, 2020

So,  this begs the question:  in what way are your First Amendment rights abridged,  if one of those providers shuts you down for a TOS violation?

In these times,  what would it actually take to shut someone up?   A solar flare that melted all electronic circuitry on the planet?

maybe an EMP...

False dichotomy.

Trump himself is an aberration. What he represents is not.

Yes, but as we separate trump from the heart of his party and the body politic, now that he remains in open insurrection, we have to determine the appropriate scale of sucking chest wound to leave in the republican party.

Do we leave a little trump crust in and very carefully try to cauterize it so other organs of that institution can still continue to function, or do we dig dig dig till it’s all out or we’ve gone clean through the spine?

I think the right answer is somewhere in the middle.

It will definitely involve lots of investigation, public reports, and swift impartial justice.

Great!

Now can we do something about the 3,000 municipalities whose water is *worse* than Flint's?!

As of about two hours ago, congressfuckup  jim “shower rape” jordan was still actively advocating for and fomenting further insurrection. He did it in his official capacity and he can only be prosecuted for his private actions. His words and their timing, however, do go a long way toward proving intent.

That is true of trump’s blathering so far today as well.

60 Minutes

48m  ·

Michigan plans to charge former Gov. Rick Snyder and other ex-officials after an investigation into the Flint water scandal, the AP reports.

In March, 60 Minutes reported on the grim early findings of the health of thousands of Flint kids exposed to lead.

https://cbsn.ws/2LNPYDy

---------

Kids were poisoned by lead in the water, right here in America, it is shameful. It is criminal. And nothing should be paramount to the health and well being of our children. The people responsible need to be punished, and we must never again allow such a horrible thing to happen, anywhere in the world.

As we struggle to put Americans back to work, we can put people to work testing the water, and making sure that the water systems are safe and modern and that people are drinking safe water. The USA needs to make an investment in making sure that everyone here in the USA has safe water to drink, and many good jobs can be created from the investment in our water systems.

Salute,

Tony V.

Perfect way for trumpists to do their upcoming community service work. I only trust them far enough to dig out the old stuff with hand tools, but there is more than enough of that kind of work to do. Also they can be labor on tearing down the ridiculous boondoggle border wall.
