Best thing would be to lock McConnell in a bathroom till the new Senate is seated in 2018.

If we, as a nation, survive the next two years it will take generations to undo the damage be8ng done to our institutions by the GOP and the Russian marionette in the White House.
Pretty sure we’ll make it.
And then some.

With three months to go 2018 will be one of the stronger years of job growth since the recession.

The unemployment rate of 3.7% is now the lowest since 1969.
Minority unemployment is at record lows

Weekly wages increased about 3.4% while hourly wages are up about 2.8% over the past year. Both above the inflation rate.

Forgot to add, part of the process is a 46 page FBI memo, with only one copy available for 100 senators to see in a day or two.
And the FBI investigation was limited to 9 interviews (and one declined), and was curtailed in both time and scope.

So a lot of rushing on the part of the GOP, along with hiding Kav documents.

And part of this process is that filibusters were eliminated, so that no longer were 60 members needed to move to a vote.

This is definitely a case where eliminating the supermajority for cloture is regrettable.  If 60 votes had been needed, Kavanaugh would have been withdrawn and someone less partisan offered.  No way that 9 Democrats were ever going to go for Kavanaugh.  They would have been lucky to get Heidi Heitkamp and she's already said NO WAY.

Despite the grudging recognition of the strong economy Obama built that is inherent in the "one of", 96 million, Red. 96 million people who have abandoned any attempt to find work! That, not phony unemoymemt and job growth numbers is the real economic story. A story of the failure of Trumponomics

Jobs created in the last 20 months of the Obama Administraion: 4.15 million.
Jobs created in the first 20 months of the Trump Administration: 3.8 million.

Why is job creation slowing under.Trump, Red?

http://www.theatlantic.com/ideas/archive/2018/09/kavanaugh-ford-hearing-was-never-about-truth/571729/?utm_campaign=the-atlantic&utm_content=5bb5709d1adf640001975f2e_ta&utm_medium=social&utm_source=facebook

This was never about truth.

But we mostly knew that. It was good of the Republicans to prove it beyond a reasonable doubt.
The truth is there was no charge that could be verified and the  democrats knew that  full well. The “ last minute  Hail Mary” was used only to stall.

No, that is only the GOP faux-investigation "truth," but you know that, no matter how far up your ass your head is.

The Ramirez claim was substantiated. The lies about drinking were substantiated. The lies about the handling of the emails were substantiated.

Whether or not you have a brain is unsubstantiated, but your lack of a heart is substantiated.

Interesting 1916 trivs!  Yes, since then North Dakota has become "South Dakota only more so."

Anywho, cloture motion passed.  But, as a couple senators pointed out, yes to cloture is not necessarily yes to confirmation.  Was disappointed to see Nebraska Sen. Sasse backpedal so much.  It's going to be tight, especially given that a Montana senator will be at his daughter's wedding on Saturday.  So they may choose to delay the vote until after Columbus Day.

ITSME:  I was using "can't" in the sense of "should not."  Yes, of course, lying shitbags have been confirmed before.

Sasse's backtracking was unsurprising - he's been doing it all along. Still disappointing, though, I agree.

I think their delaying the vote is needful, but results as a mistake.

I think Kav disqualified himself with his  2nd Senate appearance.  He actually felt compelled to publicly apologize for his behavior.

And even the apology was "It's your fault I behaved like that!"

Looks like Murkowski is a No.
Flake a Yes.

So just one of Collins or Manchin could derail Kavanaugh.
Or the Montana guy gets drunk at his daughters wedding and doesn't make it back ...
