Nice jobs report.
304,000 new ones.  ( Economists predicted 170,000)
Average hourly wages grew 3.2% from a year earlier. Wages are growing at the best rate since the recession ended in 2009 .

I wonder how many jobs were created by furloughed feds getting gigs with Uber and Lyft?
Those drivers are, legally, private contractors and wouldn't be counted as private employees.

You are such a dick... how do you even respond seriously to a late night comedy jape?

Quote
Stephen Colbert has a sneaking feeling that President Trump is getting some of his ideas about the U.S.-Mexican border from the movie “Sicario: Day of the Soldado.”

Earlier this month, Trump said that people crossing the border have “unbelievable vehicles” that are “stronger, bigger and faster” than anything we have. On Jan. 18, Trump tweeted that Muslim prayer rugs have been found at the border. And last week, Trump said that human traffickers tie women and children up with duct tape to smuggle them into the country.

People noticed a strong resemblance to scenes in the 2018 action movie “Sicario: Day of the Soldado.” So on “The Late Show” on Tuesday, Colbert wondered what other movies Trump might be getting border policy ideas from.

“I’m telling ya, little boys are sneaking aliens in with flying bicycles,” said Colbert, doing his Donald Trump impression while referencing “E.T. the Extraterrestrial.”

“We must build a wall out of vibranium slats,” Colbert continued, referencing the fictional metal from Marvel movies. “Otherwise we’ll be overrun by Crazy, Rich Asians.”

Colbert not the only one to notice Trump seems to prefer movies, as a source of intel, than the threat assessment report the U.S. intelligence community provided him.  This inability to distinguish fantasy from reality, which is generally a sign of cognitive decline, just wondered how KidC and RSW account for this condition of their FL?

Here are some thoughts on job creation...

As a result of the bad economy that we had for decades, we have a lot of homeless people. Los Angeles County has 58,000 homeless people, and Chicago has 80,000 homeless people, and other areas in the USA have homeless people as well, so many new jobs are being created for social workers, as well as for psychologists, and shelter managers, etc, etc, etc, and also new jobs are being created at hospitals as everyone gets medical coverage. People are also going to the dentists, and to the optometrists, etc. Many new jobs are being created as we help the homeless people. Construction jobs are also up, as we get all of the homeless people into housing. A whole economy is being created from just helping the homeless people. Then, as the homeless people are helped, we can move on to other things.

And we need good new trade deals globally.

Also, Flint, Michigan, needs a brand new modern water system, and other areas need new water systems as well. We can create public works jobs by building brand new modern water systems wherever they are needed. Everyone in the USA can have safe, clean, water to drink.

And California lost over 500,000 jobs to China alone.

We need to invent and manufacture the technology of the future here in California, and in the USA, and we need to keep creating jobs locally. And then, as we grow, our allies such as France, Italy, Colombia, and Mexico, and the Philippines, need jobs too.

We also need high speed trains, and building the high speed trains is creating jobs already in California. There also needs to be a high speed train between Anaheim and Las Vegas. And also a high speed train between New York City and Washington DC.

Salute,

Tony V.

https://www.newsweek.com/donald-trump-intelligence-report-read-threats-1313799

Donald Trump admits he didn’t read intelligence report, then criticizes reporting on it
“I didn’t see the report from the intelligence,” Trump said referring to the Worldwide Threat Assessment report.

Quote
"I didn't see the report from the intelligence," Trump said, before curiously adding, "When you read it, it is a lot different than what is covered in the news."

I wonder how he would know that the news got it wrong, given that he never read the report.

Okay, I don't really wonder - the news must get it wrong, because it doesn't align with what the Donald believes.

Again press critical of Trump for what might happen

Remember, "he is a crazy man that will get us into a nuclear war..."?

That sure has died down.

Now its what ISIS will do to us.....

(a) Missing the point.

Having a president who doesn't read the intelligence report is problematic. Having a president who, having not read it, attacks the heads of his intelligence agencies for their naivetee and ignorance is more so. And having him claim the press got it wrong when he has no idea what it said is absurd.

(b) I'm still worried he will get us into a nuclear war. That you are not says more about you than about Trump.

Open letter to Ralph Northam:

OK Ralph. We’re roughly the same age. I get it. I went to school with a lot of guys like you back in the day. The difference is you’ve built a life as a pediatrician, politician and all around nice guy... the privileged asshole grew into a decent man. Those other guys who reconnected on FB have mostly blocked and/or unfriended me.

So here goes... you have one term as Governor. Be righteous and be bold but recognize you are most likely toast.

GOP are hitting you with their last big social wedge issue... “reproduction rights” and tossing red meat racism
to their enemies on the left... your allies.

“Never gonna be President now...”

So make the story the great job you’re doing as governor.

You can’t run for reelection and if not president what reason is there to run?

You’re not politically damaged, you’re politically done.

So what’s to lose by going BIG?

The Super Bowl is in the area where the bastion of the democratic party got wiped out to build a stadium. But you go ahead with your story.

I don't care about the limos, either.

Yeah, I know.

Soooo funny when neighborhoods get wiped out and people lose their homes.

Especially African-Americans.

Yearbook pictures?  Kind of amazing it took them that long to find that, given the current trend in political campaigns.  Agree with Larry's charitable comment on Northam, he does seem to have grown into a decent person.  But medical school, wow, you think the judgement circuits would be hooked up better in a brain in its, what, mid_twenties, than a college freshman age brain.  That suggests he hadn't worked out that some symbols don't play, even if you use them ironically, which does suggest an oddly insulated sense of entitlement.  And the noxious power of frat culture.
