"(Northem) is unqualified to serve"

Well.......no -

he was ELECTED by the people - and should serve out his term.  Va politicians dont think they can impeach.  Thus it is up to the GOV what happens next - if he wants to serve.....

Va Dem  politicians - and Dems in general - want Northem out so that a new Dem can come in and seemingly restore order - making it more likely they keep Va Democratically run after 2021.

Unfortunately, Door #2 seems to be not a great option either.  They may need to go to the curtain where Carol Merrill is standing......

I suppose, to some, it is gratifying that a politician who won an election by falsely playing a race card is now about to be hoist on his own petard.

When your oponent runs a racist campaign it is neither a)false, nor b)  "playing a race card" to point that out.  The yearbook photo doesn't change that.
Then Impeach him.

LOL.  And if the Democrats didn't want him out you would be calling them hypocrites.

I'd say the political angle far better explains your position; Northam stays, disorder reigns, and his GOP opponent gets to run on the same yearbook photo you say now is A-OK.

Oh of course they want him to resign. He is a blot on the carefully constructed but hypocritical image that the party cares about blacks. Governor Northam is denying the racist charge but apologized anyway about the picture. So there is an impasse. Impeach him.

I dont know what they will run on.  If he governs well I would think that speaks for itself.  Arent there ISSUES in Virginia?

Elections have consequences - those elected get to govern.  I have stood by that with Trump.  Why would I feel otherwise with Northam?

This will be underreported

Yeah, two bangers beef on the #7 one pulls a gun and figuratively has it shoved up his ass. Shooter is arrested.

Let’s preempt “This Is Us” to cover this ground shaking event...

The decision that upset the broadest spectrum of Iraqis was the departure of American troops from the country once the status of forces agreement, which set the terms for United States forces in Iraq, expired in 2011. Although American troops had little choice but to leave the country after the expiration — and though Iraq’s leaders played a large role in their exit — many Iraqis now describe the departure as an abandonment and part of what led to the growth of the Islamic State and continued fighting on Iraqi soil.

“It will not be forgotten what happened after the American withdrawal,” said Jowad al-Musawi, a member of Parliament from the bloc allied with Moktada al-Sadr, a Shiite leader. “It will not be forgotten that America would at any moment leave you alone to confront war or terrorism.”

Either/or:

You will make whatever argument you want to make, regardless of facts (established)
You don’t actually know what the word “hypocrite” means (probable)

After fucking things up in Syria, Trump turns his sights on Iraq:

https://www.nytimes.com/2019/02/04/world/middleeast/trump-iraq-iran-reaction.html?action=click&module=Top%20Stories&pgtype=Homepage

Unfit.

Have we in fact left Syria?

Its unclear what the plan is in Syria.  At first we said we would only leave if we had assurances from Turkey that they wouldn't attack the Kurds.  Then there was word that we were beginning the draw-down.  And now Trump is saying yes, we are leaving, but no worries we can always come right back because "we have very fast airplanes."

If, somehow, we end up doing the right thing in Syria it will be because Trump was told (including by his own party in Congress) that he doesn't know what he is doing and takes that to heart.  Signs aren't good that this will happen.

Black folks have no illusions about the parties. We know Democrsts don’t do shit FOR black people while the GOP is continually engaged in doing shit TO black people in particular and PoC in general.

Knicks

could you be more specific, what would you like the Dems to do for African-Americans?

Do you really think the broad Democratic coaltion does not view equal opportunity as a core party goal and driving principle?

Seriously what the fuck do you want?

I'd say there are any number of issues that could be used to refute the contention that Democrats "don't do shit" for black people, but its certainly off when the first thing a Democratic House did was pass legislation to counter Republican efforts to disenfranchise black voters.

One issue where Democrats and the interests of black people are not aligned are Charter Schools. But opposition to them isn't across the board, and where it does exist its an attempt to protect traditional public schools which certainly have done more than "shit" for the African American community.

All that said, I suspect LarryBnDC (DC...its Democrats that support its largely African American citizens getting seats in congress) was exaggerating for effect.
