When President Trump took office, he promised to end "catch and release." Migrants believed him as apprehensions in April 2017 fell to a record low of 15,798.
Since then, migrants learned the U.S. can do almost nothing to stop them. Apprehensions have since soared 582 percent to levels not seen in almost two decades – and almost double what President Obama in 2014 called a “crisis.”

“Why is it doubling? Because word's out on the street in Central America – if you bring a minor child with you to America, we can only hold a minor child for 20 days," South Carolina Sen. Lindsey Graham said this weekend. "Will we release everybody, including the adults that never show up for the hearing cases three years from now? It's also been found out in Central America. You ask for asylum. Nobody's trying not to get caught."

In South Texas, border agents the last several days apprehended 229 migrants an hour, or 5,500 a day, forcing the agency to set up tents in parking lots and hiring jets at $16,000 a flight to send adults to nearby Del Rio just for processing.

As for the surge itself, few seem pleased. Mexico blamed the U.S. for not processing Central Americans faster, leaving 13,000 asylum seekers stranded and on waiting lists in Mexico.

Border cities in the U.S. blame the border patrol for dumping immigrants in their communities, waiting at bus stations for money to arrive from relatives.

#####

Wait a minute, wasn't I led to believe in this forum that the good folk in border cities loved immensely all the illegal immigrants pouring in?
Love having them, not concerned about open borders at all?

Mexico let them in over its border, so now they're Mexico's problem.

US is obviously investigating thoroughly any people seeking asylum in the US...as it should be doing.

You can turn desperate people into a problem or you can help them become less desperate. The Putin puppet junta has been working overtime creating crisis to distract and bilk the American people. The sick signal is so strong it is even picked up by the most addled of Australians, our dear Bambu.

Neither side wants children shot in school. The question is would the society be safer with secure borders or a large influx of desperate people from violent dysfunctional situations.

You’re talking about the violent dysfunctional white people committing the bulk of these mass shootings, right?

These motherfuckers been running around in this country terrorizing my people for centuries, how safe am I around assholes like you?

White guy killed my cousin in church because he couldn’t get laid and decided it was the fault of the people who invited him into their  sanctuary and prayed with and for him, before he murdered them.

I should be deathly afraid of some brown motherfuckers who might get into the country yet ignore the white terrorists who are born and raised here?

Only a racist, xenophobic asshole can twist that bullshit into some kinda pretzel logic.

Some crazy white supremacist shot up a black church so we should open borders? Not too nuts.

I noted to Bambi-brain that we know how to reduce abortions and laws criminalizing abortions don't do it.

Here is an example that works.

How about posting your own thoughts?  You either post links or one-liners that say very little.  The beauty of a forum like this is it calls on us to take in what's going on in that external stuff we call "reality" and then develop our own free thinking on the matter and share it with others.

Do you agree that promoting availability of contraception to young people is a good thing which reduces young people's need to get an abortion?  Or are you being ironic?  If the latter, why?  If the former, are you happy that you've found common ground with more moderate and liberal members of the Forum?  If we can actually agree on something that's a social good, that's the start of better laws, better institutions, a better society, right?  At the core, most of us want that - it's the methods we disagree on, and for some, it's the spiritual beliefs they may have about what methods are humane.

https://www.conservativereview.com/news/levin-exposes-rep-rashida-tlaibs-radical-anti-semitism-holocaust-revisionism/

The claim that Tlaib said the Holocaust itself was “calming” is a pure lie. Tlaib was using the term “calming” in reference to a tragedy, but the tragedy is the loss of Palestinian Arab land. She is arguing that the loss to Palestinians that was offset by a gain for Jews is calming to her.

Amazingly, her positive comment about the establishment of the state of Israel is being twisted into a positive comment about the Holocaust. Of course, it is true that the Holocaust is what led to the establishment of Israel. The causal relationship between the two events is an undeniable historical fact, one that Jews frequently observe. Tlaib is repeating the same basic observation that Jews habitually make — out of the darkness comes light. It is particularly Orwellian that they have twisted this element of her statement into some kind of tacit endorsement of Hitlerism.

Interesting book refutes the calming helper claim. The war in northern Africa turned badly for the axis. Mein Kampf borrows heavily from the Koran.

Republicans’ desperate attempts to smear @RepRashida & misrepresent her comments are outrageous. President @realDonaldTrump & House GOP should apologize to Rep. Tlaib & the American people for their gross misrepresentations.

Judging by all the scars on your knuckles from the sidewalk, you are far along on your own closed and primitive personal journey. Is it possible that hateful grifters have lied to you?

Detroit.  Rep. Rashida Tlaib is from Detroit.

And the lies and smears about what she said are just that; lies and smears. Anyone who repeated them owes her an apology.

You still offer no opinion.  You refer to the issue, which you correctly identify as whether or not an IUD is tantamount to abortion, but we still have no idea what your thinking is.  Not the author's, not the politician's, not Trump's, not some priest's, BUT YOUR OWN...that is, thoughts and feelings you had in regard to this issue that you could actually express in your words.  Again, this is one of the uses of a message board, to spark one's thoughts and give them coherent expression.

Every time a woman has a heavy period, there's a certain percent chance she has sloughed off a newly fertilized egg, called a zygote, due to a variety of causes.  Should medicine strive to prevent all such natural occurences, because these microscopic entities are actually citizens, with all legal rights and protections of citizens?  And, if they aren't, if they are just insentient cells that are no more an independent life than the epithelial cells we all leave on the rim of a drinking glass, then what's wrong with an IUD?
