Has that happened?

What, me worry?

As we celebrate our nation's birthday, a nation born to promote and protect freedom and liberty for all, the celebration is muted somewhat upon the news that MAD magazine a real pioneer in humor and political satire that IMO helped shape political humor in this country for over 50 years, will be sort of closing shop as the magazine many of us grew up (sort of) with.

I started with Mad around '62/63 an an innocent 7th grader, and was a monthly reader through high school. By '68 most of the innocence was gone. But i usually got the joke.

Alfred E Neuman still lives!

$0.25 still cheap

Throngs of protesters expected today in Washington

So, whose fault will it be if someone were to die?

Everyone who thought it was a good idea to spend 92 million dollars to show off some obsolete tanks.

Totally dependent upon the circumstances.

The notion that you want to afix blame before the event is totally in keeping with the current GOP approach to things, but it's anti-American, not to mention decidedly irrational.

some of us are... more enamored of the current holiday. For you, I share my favorite rendition of (part of) the 1812 Overture:

Regarding Ross flags, my criterion:  if something becomes a symbol of racism and you essentially pay no personal price to be rid of it, then toss it out.   However, if I like VWs and someone tells me, hey, Hitler had some input in the early designs, I'm going to buy a VW anyway.   I'm not avoiding something I value just because someone tried to put their stink on it.

Anne Frank had no choice.

Happy 4th July!

America kicked the British out.      United States of America.
Australia embraced the British [and still does today, long after it had to].   Commonwealth [Federation] of Australia.

'Funny' how things work out.
