Three questions to watch:
1. Will we begin to see quarantines imposed by federal or state leaders?
2. How will federal resources be deployed to assist in state and local efforts to combat coronavirus?
3. How extensively will coronavirus disrupt our normal civic functioning including courts and elections?

3.  ...Ohio ( for example)is barring any in person voting in its Primary before Election  Day.

It turns out that Ward is wrong about this, too.

And I thought that their Primary was going to be postponed, but a judge turned down the governor.

LOL
DeWine lost the Court Case which means his decision on Election Day voting is moot.

Yes, Ward, that was what I said. Very good.

The other thing I said was that you were wrong about no voting until election day.

This entire discussion started with this simple question.  Why didnt you comment on the state part of it?

We've already seen one instance of that sort. That's why, for me. I can't speak for Ward.

My hope is that we will not have cause to see more.
Whatever that is supposed to mean.

So much density contained in so few words, Ward.

You are thicker than a redwood.

Another theory holds that the 1918 virus mutated extremely rapidly to a less lethal strain. This is a common occurrence with influenza viruses: there is a tendency for pathogenic viruses to become less lethal with time, as the hosts of more dangerous strains tend to die out[11] (see also "Deadly Second Wave", above).

Hope in some places

Of course, this is not an influenza virus. It's a coronavirus.

1. You are mistaken, Ward.
Quote
The federal government derives its authority for isolation and quarantine from the Commerce Clause of the U.S. Constitution. ... The authority for carrying out these functions on a daily basis has been delegated to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
That's from the CDC.
You forgot to read all of your hasty Google search.

Under 42 Code of Federal Regulations parts 70 and 71, CDC is authorized to detain, medically examine, and release persons arriving into the and traveling between states who are suspected of carrying these communicable diseases. As part of its federal authority, CDC routinely monitors persons arriving at land border crossings and passengers and crew arriving at U.S. ports of entry

To repeat. The Federal Government has the power to quarantine people coming to America and those going state to state. It has no Constitutional power to quarantine the Entire country. The Federal Government can support the states’ decisions to quarantine.

You cannot read or understand what you read. I don't know which it is.

They can lock down the borders between states, officially. That's what the words you posted say. They could, for example, quarantine New Hampshire. But they could also quarantine every state. And they could do the same with internal flights, not just international flight.

So mankind has to survive as best it can for about a year until vaccine is made?

Luee, the first pass at a vaccine was given to the first human today. If it works, then there is a chance we will get one in a year, but closer to 18 months is still more likely, no matter how we rush it.

There are companies and governments all over the world and I suppose one of them might announce one before that, but the scientific community is going to be pretty skeptical that all the Ts were crossed and all the Is were dotted.

You have super programs and computers, each day saved saves hundreds of lives. Rush it through.

All the super computers in the world don't help replace human trials, Luee.

And we used to rush things through.

Does the name "thalidomide" mean anything to you?

1. The Federal Government has no Constitutional Power to impose a National Quarantine
2. The Federal Government can assist in many ways states that impose quarantines.
3.  The Courts are already affected. Ohio ( for example)is barring any in person voting in its Primary before Election  Day.

1. You are mistaken, Ward.

That's from the CDC.

2. Distribution of tests would be a good start. The President has made it clear that states should not expect help on respirator and ventilator shortages.

3. Ward's statements are both true, but the so-called example is not an example concerning the courts. Courts in multiple states have already postponed all sorts of trials. And Ohio is the 3rd state to postpone primaries.

Yes - until then the use of anti-virals including some being used to combat cancers will surely be beneficial.

No.

Do NOT take Kid's advice on this stuff. He is full of shit.

Moderator Voice: Kid, shut up and don't try to give medical advice here.

Stop using ibuprofen

Not yet accepted as science, Kid.

The French report on that is disputed by others.

And... it would be any anti-inflammatory, if the French report is right.

A bit of a turnaround from the "tremendous control" that we had during the weekend, huh?

The Dow Jones Industrial Averages is still above where it was on Trump's Inauguration Day.

Mind you, had it stayed open those last 10 minutes, it might not be. It plummeted 640 points in the last 35 minutes, so the other 450 points above Jan 20, 2017 could have gone pretty quickly.

It's shed 30% so far. It would be nice if it settled down. (My own stocks are down about 15%, but I know some folks who are very anxious.)
