A Daily KOs writer has responded to Paul Krugman's "doom loop of bizarro" column, with some interesting ideas for what Democrats could be doing.  I don't agree with all of them but some, like Robert Reich's secret ballot, are pretty cool.

Robert Reich has a suggestion. Make the vote on whether to convict Trump a secret ballot — as juries do. Too many Republicans know it would be political suicide to go on record against Trump. It might be actual suicide as well, given the death threats out there. Secret ballots would let them vote their conscience — assuming they still have one.

Reich's got an idea, but I can see GOP Senators starting to howl at a secret ballot and about their newfound love of "transparency."

And earlier this week, Garret Miller, a rioter who was additionally charged with making threats to Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and a Capitol police officer in posts online, released a statement through his attorney in which he apologized and pinned the blame on Trump for his conduct.

“While I never intended to harm Congresswoman Ocasio-Cortez nor harm any members of the Capitol police force, I recognize that my social media posts were completely inappropriate,” the 34-year-old Miller told VICE News in a statement. “They were made at a time when Donald Trump had me believing that an American election was stolen.”
