Just watched a YouTube video:
"Spend the night with me-blizzard at the cabin"

'Girl in the Woods'
203K subscribers.
*
Make that 'Lady in the woods'.
And spending the night is seeing how she and her dog arrive at the small cabin, she lights candles before dark and places them on a furniture piece window height.
Then she plugs a string of USB LED lights into a portable power source and hangs them up.
She then puts kindling wood already cut and stored inside into the wood burning stove and gets a fire going with already cut and stored inside firewood, heats the cabin and cooks her dinner.
She drank some water, not snow water.
Pulled out her sleeping bag and quilt, set up her bed, dog had own nice big bed, lady relaxed in a hammock inside, read a book. Slept on the floor on the sleeping bag/mattress.
Opened a window slightly to let some cold air in as it was a bit hot inside.
 *
There is what Texans should do, turn their homes into "cabins in the woods".
Obviously the govt man can't provide, so they have to provide for themselves.
Enough bottled water stored in the house, enough for the whole family for a month.
Portable power sources always charged and ready.
Strings of USB LED lights ready.
Kindling wood always ready, enough of it and firewood for a month stored inside or outside under cover.
Enough non perishable food for a month stored.
Frozen bread, long life milk.etc.
Just like the pioneers...kind of.

"I know, because Champ can't speak for himself, here's what you should know about the Biden's very good dog: First of all, he's 12 and if you know German Shepherds, you know that's old for that breed," Williams said after airing the Newsmax TV segment.

No way states should be allowed to get off the national grid to avoid federal regulations.

Wholesale electric prices spiked during this week's severe winter storm in Texas as customers cranked their heat. This left some residents with bills upwards of $5,000 for just five days of energy use. Some analysts are saying this is a fault of being able to buy power at wholesale market rates, which can be beneficial to people during good weather but create issues in extreme circumstances like what happened this week.

Energy industry is very powerful in TX.
There's no Fed requirement you have to be hooked to one of the two interconnected national grids.  Though there are obvious benefits to being able to get power from outside when emergencies occur.  I don't know much of anything about power grids, but you'd think TX would want to have some ability to connect to the Eastern grid when necessary as a backup.  Or even Mexico (to avoid fed regs).

Ridiculous.
The federal govt, and state govts by agreements with the federal govt, should own and manage the whole energy system.
$5000 ,for a few days to stay warm or die...a total outrage.
President Biden must stop it.

Just to be clear - your problem is NOT with Newsmax running a piece about Biden's dog being poorly groomed and unloved, but Williams for pointing out it is bullshit and shows the depth the right will sink to smear Biden?

An actual journalist might have pointed out that Biden broke his foot playing with Champ.   Doesn't really suggest neglect.

Its a ironic that people usually see the light when they're sitting in darkness and cold, as there's no electricity to turn on the lights.

No way states should be allowed to get off the national grid to avoid federal regulations

Texas has never been on the national grid. When it was being formed last century Texas was in the process of building a statewide system of inter connectivity to take advantage of its huge resources in coal, oil, and gas.
And it wanted no part of regulation from the Federal Government.

Over the years it has worked out quite well since Texas controls both wholesale and retail sales of power.
Texas doesn’t have to worry about disputes  between federal and state jurisdictions.
(see California for some ugly examples)
In Texas there is just ONE regulator which has been proven to be a very effective way of operating.

Will there be some changes going forward?
Obviously winterization will be a major topic and another one is
storage of natural gas at production sites, something that has not been prevalent because of the ease of moving it through pipelines.
