I'm not particularly offended by "Achtung" but as posted before, found it pretty funny and hypocritical that the guy who uses it as basically his sig line, accused another of being a grammar nazi.
You just don't find unintentional comedy like that every day!
We in Elba are more or less the same age and likely impacted by similiar influences and cultural experiences. Not a perfect overlay but close.
My guess is if i were to conduct a survey on "achtung" in real-world US, of a 50-70 aged population, a large portion of that sample would probably associate the phrase with a German soldier from WW2 (movie or documentary) ordering cowed victims to get in line, board a train or it was time to take a shower.
But those images and associations either escape Larry, or he's indifferent to them.
But its "Larry's Choice" to use a phrase that many might associate with the atrocities of the Third Reich.
