Its going to be interesting to watch Biden and buddies cajole threaten and bribe the various factions in an attempt to hold Team D together.
And the Repubs are laughing their asses off.
If Biden fails, he and a D-House and Senate, can't govern.
If he succeeds, he's a spend and tax Dem condemning future generations to crushing debt.
This was a win to set-up a good '22-24, (take the half-loaf, claim a win, and let Americans feel good about a government doing something for them and making their life better, if not perfect) maybe hold the House, grab a couple of Senate seats, and do more work etc. This pipe dream now appears to be pissed away by stupid and selfish "what's in it for me Dems, both mods and progressives with no fucking sense of what makes political sense.
They couldn't play it smart.
Fucking morons.
And the pay-off will be Kevin McCarthy as Speaker running bogus hearings for 2 years and Machiavellian Mitch as Sauron plotting the rule of the orcs, led by some fascist poster-boy populist running against an aging Joe if he can hold off the pretenders in waiting.
Never take points off the board is usually a decent rule of thumb.
Maybe Biden can pull this off, but D-party unity is a fucking joke and the Repubs are sharpening their knives and axes, getting ready to carve this country up something fierce.
And laughing their asses off.
Chin up chum
The line will form and hold just about where the President the Speaker and the Leaders have already agreed it will.
Manchin and Sinema are keeping republicans burbling on the sidelines thinking those two will do the outpartys work for them a la Collins Romney and Murkowski until the final language is worked out and the two grudgingly add their support at the last moment on vague promises of some right wing pipe dream to be considered later that will never in fact materialize.
Republicans who got bipartisan on the debt limit refugee resettlement and hurricane relief will see bumps that will drive more into that camp while opposers face more political pain and shrinking support. It is a good precedent for future vote and may render Manchin and Sinema less relevant in the final sorting.
Third quarter politics is all this is
Serious legislation is on its way to becoming law
Thank God & vote Democrat every single time you can.
