I am not an advocate for frequent changes in laws and Constitutions. But laws and institutions must go hand in hand with the progress of the human mind. As that becomes more developed, more enlightened, as new discoveries are made, new truths discovered and manners and opinions change, with the change of circumstances, institutions must advance also to keep pace with the times. We might as well require a man to wear still the coat which fitted him when a boy as civilized society to remain ever under the regimen of their barbarous ancestors.

-- Thomas Jefferson

It turns out, Kid, that she did not testify under threat. She came back to testify because she had more she wanted to share.

The Jan 6 Committee says they welcome further Secret Service testimony under oath.

If the only things they dispute are (a) that Trump grabbed the wheel and (b) that he assaulted one of the Secret Service guys, then the rest of her testimony is still plenty damning.

If they deny talking to her about the drive at all, that would be shocking. It also seems rather unlikely.

And... there is not yet news about when their additional testimony might occur, which I would have expected, all things being equal.

ETA: Mick Mulvaney, Trump's former Acting Chief of Staff, said he believes Hutchinson's testimony.

He believes her, especially, with regard to the weapons in the crowd, Trump's knowledge of the arms, and his willful encouragement to have the crowd proceed the Capitol with those arms. That's far more important than the steering wheel incident.

The 2022 election is all about kicking Clarence Thomas out of your bedroom before he gets his hands on your intimate business.

To this end even the Pope is giving Democrats his full spiritual support.

No, just allow the broad delegation of authority by Congress, which cannot anticipate the exact scope of technical issues that arise in the future, to administrative agencies to function in their field of expertise. Especially since Congress retains the power to amend that delegation of authority. That is basic Ad Law and that is the legal landscape Congress wrote the statute in.

The Court is now run by right wing judicial activists with no respect for past established doctrine that contradicts their politics.

But, was not the WE the original source of the Steele memorandum?
No. It was leaked by Buzzfeed.
No, I meant the entity that first hired it out. Which was an different right wing Washington rag, the Washington Free Bacon.

Free Bacon?  Do they cover the political pork barrel?

Re SCOTUS - Congress has delegated regulatory powers to executive branch agencies for at least a century.  They protect our food supply, air, water, pharmaceuticals, auto safety, etc.

This ruling opens up an endless round of "oh Congress wasn't specific enough on rat turds in flour" kind of challenges, making rational regulation harder and the public less safe.  The court is tossing out an understanding long established between Congress and agencies that receive broad guidelines from Congress.  This is not the normal function of SCOTUS.

Texas AG Ken Paxton says he would defend Texas' anti-sodomy law if SCOTUS decided to revisit the issue.
