Even Clinton who signed it was critical of DOMA.  Red needs to put down the crack pipe.

October 2010: Obama starts evolving on gay marriage
At a Q&A session with progressive bloggers, Obama says that while he has been unwilling to sign on to same sex marriage, times are changing and attitudes evolve, including mine. And I think that it is an issue that I wrestle with and think about because I have a whole host of friends who are in gay partnerships. I have staff members who are in committed, monogamous relationships, who are raising children, who are wonderful parents.

So Kirsten Sinema has left the dems to be an Independent.
I doubt that will change much of her voting habits in the Senate. She is a loyal 97 per center for Biden and the dems.  But she will likely not change on opposing the blowing up of the filibuster or packing SCOTUS.

But her progressive detractors probably will not like the idea Sinema is no longer subject to a 2024 primary challenge.
That poses a dilemma for them. Putting up their own candidate in the general election could split the vote on the left  and give Keri Lake another chance to flip the seat.

The Sinema switch is all about cutting off the progressives at the pass.

Only if you think Sinema cares about "cutting of progressives". She does not. She cares about her political future full stop. She is gambling Dems will not risk the seat by running Reubens Gallego. That he is progressive is total happenstance.

She will realize she has none and will cash out for greener pastures before 2024.

He was evolving before then.  He opposed DOMA in 2008.

It's about not getting primaried.  She knows a three-way would endanger the Dem seat and knows that potential challengers know it too.  And will back away (she hopes).

He opposed same sex marriage and as president defended DOMA until he decided there were more votes to be had by changing his views.
The fact that most of us now agree does not alter his history of opposing gay marriage to get votes then switching to do the same.

You are a little late to that party but thanks for agreeing with my post.
You might want to Google who is Ned Lamont to see what happened to his quest for Senator in Connecticut.

Not agreeing that it's aimed at progressives in the way you describe. It's aimed at all challenges. I see now Lime pushed back on that, too.

As to your other comment, look at your post.  It's got some serious quote box woes there.

Another legislative accomplishment on Bidens watch.  Supreme Court can go take a hike.

I was here for the birth of DOMA, so I am very grateful to be able to be here for the funeral.

Talk about ridiculous.
There was no legislative need for a problem that does not exist, nor ever will.

As for DOMA it helped Obama get elected President.

Waitaminnit! What?
