Yeah, Trump is principled, all right.

His principles are to reward the wrong people. This is about one of those he pardoned today.

Yeah, well what was she doing in a country we invaded and turned into a war zone in the first place?

Ex-Cardinal McCarrick, an erstwhile advisor to the Pope, who was kicked out of the church for sex with children, was bishop of the church I went to when I was a kid.
Good thing we didn't go often, weren't very involved and I didn't pay any attention to the boring Sunday service dronings.  And by the time he became bishop there I was in high school and we probably had stopped going there for a solid 6 years.

I'm quite familiar with vegemite, would never pair it with margarine.  My point is that it's one of those British-style food products, like molasses, which doesn't actually seem tremendously edible, but is an acquired taste.  On occasion I've even made a nice sauce for Brussels sprouts using vegemite.

Trump has awarded ScoMo the Legion of Merit.
Always nice to receive an award.

When Trump awards it, it’s the mark of the beast.

Scummo must have been a very naughty boy. Your legal system should probably start taking their keenest interest in his doings.

Good Christian boy.
Squeaky clean.

Everyone thought that about my old Cardinal too, until he was exposed as a child molester.

ScoMo is no child molester.
No criminal.
No womaniser.
All around good guy.
Finally he's standing up to China...
calling it out for what it is.

Every other night on their tv news Australians see the might of China's military paraded.
Million plus goose-stepping troops both male and female.
Giant missiles that could blow Australia to kingdom come at any time.
With China's taking over of the NSEW China sea and building military bases on islands and creeping ever closer to Australia...more than a few people fear an invasion by China.
The only thing many people believe is stopping said invasion is the ANZUS Alliance...which any US President could abandon at any time...depending on exactly who actually runs America.
Australia needs nukes, starting with nuke subs.

"we have to fight to make sure that this never happens again."---Except nothing happened. So fighting to make right what is not wrong is a wrongheaded pursuit.

Election rules were altered without state legislature

State legislatures had plenty of time to fix what they say now is a problem.

They chose not to do so.

You snooze, you lose.

Ces't la vie, Monsieur Blu.

Gerrymandering and aggressive forms of disenfranchising voters of color is a much bigger issue, and the only reason there are members of the GOP in many Congressional seats. Yet, we hear nothing regarding any "Constitutional concerns" that you may have on those issues.

Please, by all means, explain this to me. You're a Jersey guy, and now a Constitutional scholar.

Think this represents the people?
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_Jersey%27s_7th_congressional_district

Better yet. Take a look at all of those districts. Do they make sense to you?

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_Jersey%27s_congressional_districts#/media/File:New_Jersey_Congressional_Districts,_113th_Congress.tif

kid still in hiding to avoid answering a direct question?

Shocking.

What do you watch on the alternate nights when they aren't televising China military parades?

Trump wants more $$ for Barton to shit on

https://www.foxnews.com/politics/trump-threatens-to-veto-massive-covid-bill

$2000 to everybody is better than $600 to only the needy, because the needy will get $1400 more.

Barton's point stands, whether it is $600 or $2000.
LOL!
There is no “Barton point.”

There was,  but you lack the basic cognitive skills to grasp it,  and still don't understand the essential difference between stimulus and relief,  and how each works.

Barton

Why do you suppose the 2 current bills were combined - and is there any chance the resultant 2.3 megaspend won't go through?

Thanks

The upside of this from the Trump perspective escapes me.

Doing what he feels is right - as usual

Trump wanted a 2 tril package all along while Mitch was standing on 900 bil.

GENUINE.

Trump and McConnell sat on the Dems $2.6T plan for over 6 months while America was dieing. For Trump to come in at the 11th hour and threaten to kill the deal, as inadequate as it is, is a curious "fuck you" to McConnell and the Repubs and America,

Not curious at all - McConnell called Biden the President-Elect.

This is part of the payback, but only part of it.

Not that I'm against it, but I don't see the real upside for Trump by fucking over the Repubs at the 11th hour.

He could have had a "win" with a $900B relief deal right before X-Mas, but instead has a high-cost power-play which could have real negative repercussions for the party of Scrooge. Again not that he gives a fuck. But it might piss off R-voters in Ga if they see the party of Scrooge say "bah-hum bug" to real with the rent, food, credit card bill, etc. help, so near X-Mas.

The mind of Trump is a curious mess.

As I understand it there is no 900 bil relief bill on its own.  True?

Trump has no real ideology,  beyond people liking him and wanting to be Santa Claus. Now he's calling for what democrats worked months for (while GOP opposed it).  However,  solid majorities passed the current bill making it veto proof.   My own fiscal approach is not a match with either party or Trump's sudden conversion to massive direct payments.    But,  if the choice is smaller v larger direct payments, then the larger will give a longer economic respite for those truly in need.   But it's still best directed at the unemployed and low wage workers.

I will not rehash my analysis of relief versus stimulus, and their relative merits at different stages.

It's worth noting that there are fiscal conservatives who are also liberal (like me)  who don't fit with either party.   IMO,  after the various episodes of deficit spending (and tax breaks for the wealthy) in the past few years, we will be spending an unreasonable percent of our tax payments towards national debt maintenance.   You don't keep growing the debt without harmful consequences to the government programs that benefit us and foster a healthy economy,  citizenry,  and environment.   That's why many states have legal structures that disallow deficit budgets.

It is part of the Omnibus Spending bill, I believe.

And then are those who hate deficit spending with every fiber of their being (if memory serves, those engaged in it were referred to as "socialist cocksuckers"). That is until a we have a Republican President

Remember when violent protests in our cities and the destruction they caused to public buildings was a popular topic for Kid and Ward?

For some reason, they're being pretty quiet about Portland's excitement yesterday.

This may be the year we find out if a pardon is just another executive order subject to negation and recision by the author’s successor.

No, we know it is not.

The Constitution does not give POTUS "unpardon" power.

p.s. rescission.

Does the constitution explicitly deny it? Has it been litigated?

Thank you for providing a proper spelling of rescission.
