Why, bless his little heart!

Netanyahu, who has suspended much of the Israeli government, has generously offered to step down in 18 months as part of a power-sharing scheme with the other party in which he keeps power for the time being.

Still trying to stay out of jail.

I'm with Tapper. Damned racists ought to quarantine themselves from society.

The US and the states can't organize and coordinate and keep track of this?  Shortages?   Embarrassing.  We'd be shaking our heads if say Mexico were performing like this.

Relax....

We dont want every American on line geting a test anyway.  Think of the madness.  Sick people would be waiting as the WELL took up important time easing their mind.

99.6 fever with a cough and other issues....

that's a fine place to draw the line for now.

Curious how NY got its hands on more tests than other locales.  Maybe its due to what Cuomo now complains of - that states have to fend for themselves to get supplies (driving the price sky high in many cases)

By the way, Mayor (I am running for the 2024 presidency)...

Prices WILL go up as suppliers need to pay their work forces overtime and THEIR suppliers (think of what material goes into making a mask) raise prices.

Should they go up 6-7 times over?  No.  Likely not - though you likely stretched that truth a bit

(I do like Cuomo, by the way.  He's hope for your party)

Ben Carson:  "There are some masks where that would not be appropriate.  But there are some that could be (sterilized and re-used)."

Patients have complained that they had to jump through cumbersome bureaucratic hoops and wait days to get tested, then wait even longer for a result.

Yeah - we call those people ASSHOLES.

My spouse is sewing masks as we speak.

Why?  Is it better than a bandana?  If so, how?  Maybe we all should make them for distribution (private use wouldnt be necessary if not infected).

This is the beginning notice of a disaster in the making.

Estimates of about 7,000 prisoners in that facility (down from 20,000 a couple decades ago). Not sure how many staff, but hundreds of them.

I get that the mantra is "government cant get its act together and meanwhile PEOPLE ARE DYING!"

Those currently dying would be dying anyway.  Maybe a discussion needs to be had on treatment/possible CURING of these unlucky folk rather than shooting arrows at what appears to you to be low hanging fruit.

private use wouldnt be necessary if not infected.

The point is we don't know who is or isn't infected.  Largely because of the lack of testing.  But also the nature of the virus, with a relatively long incubation period, and reportedly a contagious period possible prior to symptoms.  Also the symptoms are similar to those of flu, cold, allergies.

If everyone wears a face mask in public, then everyone who is infected --  those who are asymptomatic, pre-symptomatic or experiencing symptoms -- will be largely prevented from spreading the contagion.  And healthy people would have two layers of protection, the mask on their face and the masks others are wearing.  This will reduce transmission.

This has worked very well in China.

If I were the governor of NY, I would be calling China, getting a plane loaded with two types of face masks, and then distributing them either free, at cost or at a reasonable price.  There's plenty of excess air capacity right now.  probably can charter a plane could charter a plane from any airline.

Face masks are small and light.
How many millions can fit on an airplane.
Maybe send one of those large military cargo planes.
Start importing tens of millions of masks per day.

How much do the masks cost in China?

Are you sure there is an endless supply?

Will the Chinese government comply?

Key issue here today is whether or not acquisition and distribution of PPE should be taken over completely by the federal government (as NY Gov Cuomo suggests)

The next task force presser is 430 EST today.

Cheap.  Especially when you buy by the millions.

There's been enough for everyone in China.

China wants to get it's economy going again and factories cranking up.
China has also been putting on a charm offensive and offering to help Italy and Iran with protective gear and ventilators.

This is the kind of thing I'm taking about:

Quote
A giant transport plane landed late Saturday at an airport in the Czech Republic loaded with over 100 tons of much needed supplies for the medical sector to combat the outbreak of the coronavirus. The transport was part of a NATO program.

The Czech Defense Ministry said the plane was flying from the city of Shenzhen in south-eastern China with over 106 metric tons (117 tons) of equipment.
