Nice to see some sports fora regulars stopping over here to add their voices.   People are thinking about our injustice system.  About how many lies people were swallowing daily even before Trump,  an Olympic class liar,  took office.   Hope outrage fatigue doesn't set in too early.

Garcetti is cutting funding for police....

https://www.dailynews.com/2020/06/03/la-city-leaders-call-for-cutting-police-funding-amid-protests-against-police-brutality/

Then the money is going to be spent in the impoverished areas.

-------

So you have more after school programs and music lessons for the children of color, and fewer cops.

The children need music lessons, and acting lessons, and they need to be taught about film, and there are also sports, and dance, and poetry, and architecture, and fashion design, there are many things that the children can learn, and we can have a healthier society, and fewer people in prison. More teachers, and fewer cops.

We need to have a great awakening, and a great enlightenment, and a renaissance.

We also need bookstores at the train stations, and at the Greyhound bus stations, etc. We need to get people to read books. And having a good book and a nice snack always makes the train ride better.

There is a lot that we can do.

We need more doctors, and fewer convicts.

Salute,

Tony V.

Or as a friend said, "this is why some people say 'no good cops.'"

Solidarity with abuse is not a virtue.

You'd hope no one gets nailed to the cross of injustice in the rush to appease violent protesters.

We'd hope you could understand that nobody is rushing to appease violent protesters.

But we would hope much. You have shown a world class ability to ignore facts and reality.

So the 2nd degree murder charge is based on a felony-murder reading.  The idea that Chauvin was conducting a felonious assault on Floyd, and that the death led directly from that felony (felony-murder).

It's an interesting charge and can always revert to 3rd degree Murder if necessary.
Defense attorneys will question at what point did a policeman doing his duty to subdue a large alleged confrontational man change from lawful exercise of force to a felonious assault?  After 2 mins?  5?  7'50"?

To get to 2nd degree murder, the prosecutors need to prove that the restraint equaled a felony assault.   I don't when excessive or over-extended force by a police officer can equal a felony assault.

You put your hands in your pockets and kneel with your weight on a suspect in custody waaaaaaaaaaaaaay past the point of necessary restraint that is a fucking assault.

That is a crime and if it is determined in court George Floyd died as result of a crime, that’s felony murder. The rookies gotta go but they won’t get slammed as hard as Chauvin but they’re guilty because at that moment their academy training should tell them not to let their boss kill a guy.

Only one with a prayer of coming out of this is Tao because he was not hands on,

Not as it should be.

The prosecution will go hard, the defence lawyers will go hard, if not harder...it's not gonna be pretty.
All four facing 40 years in prison.
These trials ain't gonna be 'Sunday school picnics'.

You'd hope no one gets nailed to the cross of injustice in the rush to appease violent protesters.

They won't all get 40 years.  You really are an extremist.
Chauvin will get the harshest sentence.
The other three will have significantly shorter ones.

Fuck Maine Democrats

https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2020-06-05/trump-forges-ahead-with-maine-visit-despite-warnings

Nobody wanted Trump in Maine except Trump.

Dems thinks he's a dangerous incendiary asshole who brings nothing but trouble

and so do Repubs, but they're also afraid he's going to cost Susan "I'm deeply concerned" Collins her Senate seat.

“Hopefully, George is looking down right now and saying this is a great thing that’s happening for our country. It’s a great day for him, it’s a great day for everybody.”---Donald J. Trump

Henceforth, I don't think anybody should actually respond to the "merits" of Kid's love notes to Trump.

Just post the above quote.

You'd hope no one gets nailed to the cross of injustice in the rush to appease violent protesters.

We'd hope you could understand that nobody is rushing to appease violent protesters.

But we would hope much. You have shown a world class ability to ignore facts and reality.

Violent protesters are being appeased at every turn.
They demand, they get.
Curfews ignored, everything they demand, cops kneeling everywhere, white people apologising for being white, everything.
Marauding steamroller it seems like.

I see facts and reality very clearly.
I see US cops arresting people all the time on "COPS" tv show.
The suspects run, the cops chase them, get them to the ground any way they can. Cops pin them on the ground, face down...two, three, four cops sometimes.
The cops then force the arms of often forcefully struggling suspects behind their backs, and cuff them. Then within say 30 seconds to a minute they all lift the sometimes huge suspect to his feet [not many women arrested like this, they don't usually resist arrest].
Some suspects, even when cuffed resist arrest, resist being put in the police vehicle, kick out, cops have to wrestle with them and force them in, pushing their heads down first.
*
Face down, cops with knees on body with enough force to be able to keep suspects still so arms can be forced behind back.
Happens all the time.
In my mind the problem for Chauvin is the length of time, not the knee on body as such.
Some suspects spit on the cops, they get a bag put over their heads...great job being a cop, not.
