You know a party is failing on the real issues when one of its supporters devotes three pages here obsessing over flag burning.

Remember, bambu is not an American. He comes from a land down under, where Errol Flynn and Mel Brooks, and many more Nazi sympathizers come from. So, he doesn't quite grasp what "liberty and justice for all" really means.

Bambu prefers to shoot peas from his safe zone in Sydney so he can continue to hide his shame from being decended from convicts.

The irony for bambu is he comes from a land founded by people who were marginalized and had on opportunity to succeed in their native land, but once given that opportunity to cast off the chains of their own oppression rose to create a vibrant (albeit still flawed) civiliization.

When you look at real Aussie history, you'd think they of all people would grasp BLM.

Sadly, he's been taught to forget his country's true past. Had that not happened, he might actually be in a vastly different place, today.

For greater understanding of the failure to grasp what it means to truly be Australian, consider this:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5vdBUDDVD2A

Consider this:

Australia too has a Constitution.

Overview
The Australian Constitution has properly been described as ‘the birth certificate of a nation’. It also provides the basic
rules for the government of Australia. Indeed, the Constitution is the fundamental law of Australia binding everybody
including the Commonwealth Parliament and the Parliament of each State. Accordingly, even an Act passed by a
Parliament is invalid if it is contrary to the Constitution.

Background to the Constitution
The Constitution was drafted at a series of conventions held during the 1890s and attended by representatives of the
colonies. Before the Constitution came into effect, its terms were approved, with one small exception, by the people of
New South Wales, Victoria, Queensland, Western Australia, South Australia, and Tasmania.

The Australian Constitution was then passed as part of a British Act of Parliament in 1900, and took effect on 1 January
1901.
A British Act was necessary because before 1901 Australia was a collection of six self-governing British colonies
and ultimate power over those colonies rested with the British Parliament.
In reality, however, the Constitution is a document which was conceived by Australians, drafted by Australians and approved by Australians.
Since that time, Australia has become an independent nation, and the character of the Constitution as the fundamental
law of Australia is now seen as resting predominantly, not on its status as an Act of the British Parliament, which no
longer has any power over Australia, but on the Australian people’s decision to approve and be bound by the terms of
the Constitution.
What has been judicially described as ‘the sovereignty of the Australian people’ is also recognised by section 128 which
provides that any change to the Constitution must be approved by the people of Australia.
The Constitution itself is contained in clause 9 of the British Act. The first eight clauses of the British Act are commonly
referred to as the ‘covering clauses’. They contain mainly introductory, explanatory and consequential provisions. For
example, covering clause 2 provides that references to ‘the Queen’ (meaning Queen Victoria, who was British sovereign
at the time the British Act was enacted) shall include references to Queen Victoria’s heirs and successors.

Creation of the Commonwealth of Australia
On the commencement of the British Act on 1 January 1901, the Commonwealth came into being and the six colonies
became the six States of Australia (covering clauses 4 and 6).

The Federal Structure
The Constitution establishes a federal system of government. It is for this reason that the establishment of the
Commonwealth in 1901 is often referred to as ‘federation’. Under a federal system, powers are distributed between a
central government and regional governments. In Australia, that distribution is between the Commonwealth and the
six States. (The relationship between the Commonwealth and the Territories is discussed below.)

Separation of Powers
Chapters I, II, and III of the Constitution confer the legislative, executive, and judicial powers of the Commonwealth.

BLM downunder.

There are many govt and non-govt programs working to lift up Indigenous Australia.
'Indigenous Australia is complicated'.

Got a map of Australia handy...

..almost the size of mainland USA, but with only 25m population in total.
Look in the middle, up the top, in the Northern Territory...you'll see in top right...a place called Arnhem Land.

coast of Arnhem Land extends from Van Diemen Gulf and the Cobourg Peninsula eastward to Gove Peninsula, the Gulf of Carpentaria, and Groote Eylandt. The climate is tropical. The name Arnhem Land is now used primarily for the large Aboriginal reserve in the area.
It has been occupied by Aborigines since the late Pleistocene, and there are rock carvings at many sites.
The northeast coast was visited in 1623 by the Dutch explorer Willem van Colster in his ship, Arnhem (Aernem). Since World War II bauxite and uranium mining have become important in the area. Kakadu National Park borders Arnhem Land on the west.

***

Arnhem Land has a total population of approximately 16,000 people, of whom 12,000 are Aboriginal Yolngu people – the traditional owners of the land.

Can’t drive drunk so can’t drive high.

Difference is drunk drivers run stop signs, high drivers wait for them to turn green.

Check your privilege,  dude.

Bite me.Dude. Priorities matter.

My take is that "privilege" means we sit on the sidelines, pontificating on priorities while maybe back families really don't want their children walking past glorious statuary of slaveholders.   I think it's a given that people of conscience want food security etc.   But maybe symbolism has a special importance in how it shapes people's thinking about all that other important stuff you mentioned earlier.

I admire TR's record on conservation and other things, but have to agree that the composition of this particular statue (with a Native American and black in subservient positions to TR on the horse) is pretty much an insult to PoC....

https://www.cbsnews.com/news/natural-history-museum-remove-teddy-roosevelt-statue-new-york/

Didn't know the statue. I'm surprised it has lasted this long.

The energy on vetting statues and determining their symbolism and value to society is very much misplaced.

That energy could be brought to bear on things that matter far more to people, like food insecurity issues that condemn so many children in the USA to physical and mental health stressors that impair their young lives.

Don't waste time with Stonewall Jackson, when Mrs. Brown's kids down the street are starving.

The energy being directed toward the symbols of oppression is being channeled in a way Ive never seen in such scale and duration.

That energy will replace the existing power structure which is built on the criminalization of poverty and the profit made off incarcerating poor people. Same as it ever was.
America profiting off the bondage of black people. Break that cycle and the social inequities you described most likely don’t exist on such a grand scale.

Stonewall Jackson was a traitor to his nation and fought to preserve the slave based economy of the South.

His side lost and caused the Deaths of more Americans than Hitler, Mussolini, Tojo and Ho Chi Minh combined.

Why are there statues of him anywhere in the nation he tried to destroy?

Because they’re a thumb in the eye of any and all Black people who try to get off the wheel.

When the athletes protested during the anthem they were told they should grateful they’re ALLOWED to paid for having the ability to do what only a few thousand people in the world do and even though they are the best of the best.

Be grateful. See those statues? Remember your place.

No excuse, even if the police weren't making up shit, but... I can't wait for either the body cam footage to come out or for them to claim there is none.

Drunk and/or drug drivers are a menace...they kill people on the roads.
Must wave them goodbye from the roads...bambu-ilk demand it.

"Blow into this device".
"Wipe this down your tongue from back to front."

"You have blown over the legal limit, you are now under arrest, you must accompany me to the police station for a further test".
"Your drug test for meth and cannabis has returned a positive result for both. You are now under arrest for the purpose of further testing".

RBT...Random Breath [and now also drug] Testing.

OMG!
Jimmy Kimmel( he of blackface ignominy) now is discovered using the N-Word
in a song in 1996.
( according to the Cancel  Culture rules of 2020 there is no statue of limitations on that offense). See Jimmy Fallon Faces Backlash For Wearing Blackface in Resurfaced ‘SNL’ Clip-variety.com

Is Kimmel’s scheduled Emmy hosting in Jeopardy?
Should it be?
