Red is not credentialed. He doesn’t even have his shots. His licenses have been revoked. His citizenship is in question as is his exact species.

He’s free to spout off, but we are more free to discredit the flimsy miasma of bile and falsehood he spews from his noise hole.

Red is useful because he loves the terrible and hates the good. If something is bothering Red, nurture it and give it support and your life will improve. If Red loves something, kill it before it kills you.

Red is like a carbon monoxide detector. If he’s chirping away happily it’s time to get out of the building.

Worth reading in entirety (it's not long) to grasp the consequences of this proposed departure from WHO....

https://www.npr.org/sections/goatsandsoda/2020/07/07/888186158/trump-sets-date-to-end-who-membership-over-its-handling-of-virus

Should at least be run past Congress.   Don't think the founders of this country were really going for an imperial level of executive power.
You’d think a scholar with a self inflated curriculum vitae of Barton would have , at least, read our Constitution.
But.
You’d be wrong.

I wouldn't even consider the question. I value his words for themselves. Credentials are not indicative of knowledge, understanding, or wisdom, as you demonstrate on a near daily basis.

And, as usual, you make a vague assertion without providing support for whatever position you are pretending to take.

You are a racist liar with no credibility.
Ahhh.
You have multiple racist cards up your sleeves.
How convenient.
But playing them for no known reason kinda turns you into a old dude crying wolf, don’t you think?

Given that you raised racism first in this discussion it would be almost amusing for you to talk about somebody else playing the racist card, except that it is the same old lie, deny, and obfuscate you always use.

And there are not enough racist cards to cover you.

But you are mistaken about "no known reason." Your denial is moot - it is a simple, straightforward description of you.
With not a whiff of substance.

Yes, that was what I said of your claims. And your denials.

The US is adding one wuhan (50k total) per day in Covid cases.

Given the detected undercount so far, we are already north of 160k if not 170k.
This will do in 250k Americans before we finally do away with trump.

There was a study out last week which primarily compared deaths this year to previous years and concluded that CV-19 deaths were 27% undercounted in the US. It's pretty easy to do 25% undercount math in your head, just add 1/4 more than whatever the official death count is.
I can find a link if anyone wants.

Amazing to hear talk in the US that the virus can't be stopped:

Outside of Hubei Province, China had a little over 30K cases.
Shanghai: 718 cases; 23 deaths; 7 active cases; 688 recovered.

In SH, voluntary lockdown went in place from Jan 22 to circa March 21.
Non-essential business were closed for that period.  A strong 2 month lockdown.  You were allowed to go out as you wanted but there wasn't much open, except food and drug stores and some restaurants.  Subway and buses kept running the whole time.  Mostly empty, but medical workers and food service workers could get to their jobs.  Most folks worked at home for a few months.

Gradual reopening of restaurants, bars, gyms was phased in from late March through May 1 in stages.  Some gov't gyms have remained closed.  Private ones were allowed to open March 21.  School openings were phased in starting around May 1.  Universities still closed, and not reopening until the Fall semester.

From around Jan 22 to June 1, everyone wore a mask in public.
In June, mask wearing slipped to about 70% (my estimation), until the Beijing mini-outbreak, which bounced mask-wearing back up to 90% for two weeks.  This week probably dropped down to 75% again.

China never went in much for social distancing and handwashing (I had hoped that soap would start appearing in all bathrooms, but not even available in the hospital public bathroom).  Face masks were the main precaution, along with of course no crowds and staying home mostly.

It took until July 1 for a consensus in the US that face masks were necessary.
It took until April 15 before the authorities even acknowledged that masks were helpful, not harmful.  And masks were not the only blunder in the US regarding the virus.

It's been real weird and eerie, as the Trump Admin had zero plan and made little effort to deal with the virus.  A complete failure and dereliction of duty.  China has officially had 4634 CV-19 deaths.  390 Active cases.  Compare that to the US failure led by the Fake President, who accepts no blame ...

It's just real hard to see what the Trump virus end game strategy is/was.  Did they really think the virus would just fade in the warm weather?  The Summer outbreaks in Florida, Arizona, Texas make it clear that was wishful thinking.  But I read as far back as March, maybe Feb, that MERS, another coronavirus, spread in the Arabian Peninsula in over 100 degree weather.  Did they expect herd immunity?  Did they really think the virus was a hoax of some sort?   Why did Trump and the GOp decide to go down in flames over a pathogen?  And sicken and kill huge numbers of Americans in the process.

My takeaway all along is that this virus is containable.  China did it with face masks, temp checks, contact tracing, a 10 week lockdown, more face masks, and a gradual reopening.  After the Wuhan/Hubei failure, China had a textbook response which was highly effective.  Not sure why the US and other countries didn't mimic that.

It’s the system performing as designed.

If the nation is to avoid escalating conflicts, the police system is going to be rebuilt and re-aimed to meet the needs of the now large majority of pluralists instead of the Shrinking minority (white) exclusionists who may possibly have been in a majority at one point but who have definitely been from the get go calling the shots. Since it’s now conclusive that they suck for everyone including themselves, they must be separated from their power and influence, especially in systems of public safety.

Did they expect herd immunity?  Did they really think the virus was a hoax of some sort?   Why did Trump and the GOp decide to go down in flames over a pathogen?  And sicken and kill huge numbers of Americans in the process.

They thought ignoring it and pushing for reopening was the best way to get Trump re-elected.  That's really it.  That's what it comes down to.

Of course, Trump has a single cell brain that responds to stimulus with one step opposition.  Testing raises the case counts?  Slow down testing.  I look bad in a mask?  Anyone wearing one isn't a supporter of mine.   Warning Americans about the pandemic hurts the stock markets?  Ignore the pandemic.

But its clear Republicans followed his lead because they believed the bullshit about a V-Shaped recovery following State re-openings.  The plan was to get unemployment back around 10%, and bank on the constant drumbeat of death in the news to inoculate people to what was/is a totally avoidable horror.  What went unsaid was, well, those people are old anyway.  Just 0.0004% of the population.

And look, as stupid as this plan is on its face, an otherwise well-run nation tried essentially the same thing.  And what happened?:

More than three months later, the coronavirus is blamed for 5,420 deaths in Sweden, according to the World Health Organization. That might not sound especially horrendous compared with the more than 129,000 Americans who have died. But Sweden is a country of only 10 million people. Per million people, Sweden has suffered 40 percent more deaths than the United States, 12 times more than Norway, seven times more than Finland and six times more than Denmark.

The elevated death toll resulting from Sweden’s approach has been clear for many weeks. What is only now emerging is how Sweden, despite letting its economy run unimpeded, has still suffered business-destroying, prosperity-diminishing damage, and at nearly the same magnitude of its neighbors.

Sweden’s central bank expects its economy to contract by 4.5 percent this year, a revision from a previously expected gain of 1.3 percent. The unemployment rate jumped to 9 percent in May from 7.1 percent in March. “The overall damage to the economy means the recovery will be protracted, with unemployment remaining elevated,” Oxford Economics concluded in a recent research note.

This is more or less how damage caused by the pandemic has played out in Denmark, where the central bank expects that the economy will shrink 4.1 percent this year, and where joblessness has edged up to 5.6 percent in May from 4.1 percent in March.

In short, Sweden suffered a vastly higher death rate while failing to collect on the expected economic gains.

https://www.nytimes.com/2020/07/07/business/sweden-economy-coronavirus.html

Of course, the US now has Sweden as a cautionary tale.  Reopening has caused a sustained larger wave of cases, the death counts are going up, and no one is predicting a V-shaped recovery kicking in at the end of the Summer.

Does that mean Republicans have learned their lesson?  Nope.  They are doubling down on the anti-science stupidity and the death:

This is what happens when a political party gets taken over by Trumpism.

And there is another explanation for their doubling down, by the way.  Voter suppression.

Kellyanne Conway said again yesterday how Trump's supporters would "crawl through glass" for him.  Its a disgusting phrasing that his people keep repeating because its very much at the front of their minds.  If the US is knee-deep in pandemic come November and mail-in voting is suppressed where it counts, Trump supporters will outnumber anyone with a brain who might think twice about going to vote in person in the midst of an airborne respiratory virus.

It all comes down to their wanting another four years of Trump.  Which means hundreds of thousands of Americans will die for judges and tax cuts.

Today's GOP, folks.
