Health authorities have confirmed links between coronavirus cases in Black Lives Matter protests and a cluster of at least 242 cases in Melbourne's public housing towers.

As many as 10,000 people attended the June 6 rally in Melbourne’s CBD, despite warnings from Premier Daniel Andrews and the Department of Health and Human Services urging people to “consider other ways to show support”.

#####

Yes, this is what happens when the streets get taken over by protesters, and cease to be 'owned' by the govt.
...and what happens when weak govt leaders warn and urge instead of ban and enforce.

Now thousands are locked down in the public housing towers....because one, one protester caught it and took it to her retail store workplace, then a colleague took it into the towers...and from there it spread quickly, shared facilities in some parts of some towers.

As we all know covid-19 is extremely contagious and precautions should be taken as best as possible or practical,

However in the article you provided is included the following

However, Victoria’s chief health officer Brett Sutton has said the protest hasn’t played a significant role in the state’s surging virus infections.

and if you scroll down you see references to the virus being spread in Australia by pub-goers.

A total of 18 Queenslanders who visited Sydney's Crossroads Hotel have been tested for the coronavirus.

"We understand "A lot of people went there and no doubt there probably are other Queenslanders who visited the pub on those dates and we'd urge them to come forward and get tested immediately." it's a very popular stopping spot off the Hume Highway and that there were roughly 4,000 patrons during that period of time (July 3-10)," he told ABC this morning.

Yet you skipped over those.

And as the headline to your link refers to "Miami Florida is now the epicenter for the virus"

This is what happens when palid sunbathers, in search of the perfect tan, takes over our public beaches!!!

Stay healthy, wear a mask particularly when you're in a pub guzzling Fosters.

Cheers mate!

The state is:

Victoria;
Area: 227,444 km²
Population: 6.359 million (Sep 2017)
Premier: Daniel Andrews [Labor party]
Government: Constitutional monarchy

I'm talking about those towers in Melbourne...many thousands in hard lockdown [it's been relaxed a bit now, some towers have no cases].
Then 'dopey Dan' refused the army, cops to police the hotel quarantines...as a result the security guards he hired [one to a floor, often asleep in the chair, often sleeping with the guests and taking the virus home to family and friends]...and now 36 Melbourne suburbs are in soft lockdown...and the strain of the virus is infecting NSW state.

He's being called by some "Chairman Dan", as he's signed the state up to China's belt and road initiative, against the federal govt's wishes.
Victoria being called by some "The Peoples Republic of Victoria".

It's believed a truck driver from Victoria introduced the "Vic strain virus" into NSW...because NSW Premier didn't close the border weeks before she did...when she was told to by bambu-ilk.

NSW premier shuts down lockdown talk as cases rise

NSW teeters on the edge of a new coronavirus lockdown, but Premier Gladys Berejiklian insists it will not happen.

With Victoria already cut off from the rest of the country and Melbourne in lockdown at the heart of its coronavirus crisis, Ms Berejiklian indicated last night that NSW would not follow its southern neighbour even as cases grew.

"We can't shut down every time we have a cluster of cases," Ms Berejiklian told A Current Affair.
"We can't keep shutting down and reopening, that is not a good way for us to manage the pandemic."
Ms Berejiklian said people must learn to live with coronavirus and the deadly threat it poses.

Her government's plan is for NSW residents to have a "good quality for life" for the duration of the pandemic, and manage the deadly threat without constant lockdowns.

"We need to accept children need to be educated, that people need to go to work," she said.
"It would be unrealistic for us to assume we are going to see any situation where there's zero cases.
"This is the nature of a pandemic – until we have a cure, we have to live with it."

Well there you go.
Sounds like 'surrender', to me.
All too hard.

Someone should ask Red what's the # of kids who get infected and infect others, where he might queestion the wisdom of opening schools in late August.

Or what precautions might he take?

what's his tipping point, how many dead kids does it take to change a mind?

And I'm serious. Ultimately that's the question that has to be addressed. if you want to run the economy at half-speed for the foressable future, how many dead will be acceptable? Or is it better to shut it down in the hope we can slow the spread, relieve the healthcare system, find a cure/vaccine, and get get back to full-speed in a little longer time period.

I agree with her.

Had she done the lockdown right the first time, there would be little need for another.

But she didn't.

Quote from: Hairy Lime link=topic=55.msg134566#msg134566 date=
Oh, in person schools are optimal. When they are safe. In the US they are not safe now because Trump and his acolytes have refused to do the hard work to make them safe. Unlike, well, every country you cited above. But Trump was so concerned that a bad economy would hurt his election chances he forced reopenings before we were ready and we are now worse than we were when we first started the shut downs.
Keeping schools open are decisions made by states and school districts.
And Science is on the side of having kids in schools

If minority school age children are in school then their parents can go back to work full time on the front line (or lose unemployment benefits) and add to the rising pile of black and brown bodies sacrificed to keep Trump’s Zombie economy upright for re-election purposes.

Trump's camapign rant on WH lawn is quite a show, it's incoherence was impressive.

He made Howard Beale appear cool calm and collected.

That was some ‘Jim Jones on the last day’ level shit.
