We know that for every 100 cases 97 recover, or suffer mild to non-existent symptoms. The three that don’t are most always older folks.

No, we don't know that.
Yes we do.
For every 1000 cases 970 recover.   To be precise the actual death rate is .03165055 ( worldwide.03608491)
Lockdowns were unnecessary knee-jerk reactions that only caused an increase in pain and suffering due to other maladies and stopped a roaring economy and doomed the poorest among us to misery and joblessness.

You keep using that word, "recover." I do not think it means what you think it means.

This is the short form of the prior post that illustrates your profound ignorance on this:
Quote
87% of a patient cohort hospitalized for acute COVID-19 was still struggling 2 months later. Data from the COVID Symptom Study, which uses an app into which millions of people in the United States, United Kingdom, and Sweden have tapped their symptoms, suggest 10% to 15% of people—including some “mild” cases—don’t quickly recover. But with the crisis just months old, no one knows how far into the future symptoms will endure, and whether COVID-19 will prompt the onset of chronic diseases.
Recover is an easy word to look up in a dictionary

The issue is in a pandemic, where people might feel threatened by waiting in long election lines at polling places, and would prefer the safety and conveniecne of vote by mail, and which has been conducted safely and securely for years, the president wants to suppress voting by actively dismantling the USPS's ability to handle the expected huge demand, by staff cuts, denying OT, and trashing mail sorting equipment. He is actively going to sabotage the election and distort the results, if he can get away with it.

Competitively speaking, this is not your normal election.

YES, the "securely" part comes into question - as the "anything to get that orange guy out of here" is in full bloom.

Yeah, what is 3% of 60 million? Percent of deaths is not the point of the shut downs.
There is no point to the lockdowns.

You keep saying that, but without making a statement about why that might be so.

Here we are with the 8th highest rate of death per capita of any country with a population larger than 100,000 (and 10th even including them), and you are saying you wish more people would have died.

You are a ghoul.

And an illogical one, at that.

Germany used a strict lockdown. Their death rate per capita is just over 1/5th of ours.

"No point to a lockdown." What? You have shares in a mortuary or a casket manufacturer?!

And the "anything that gets him reelected" is also in full bloom - fuller, since he has already proven that he will use extra-legal means to do it.

Competitvely speaking-WTF are you talking about?

This is a normal election-they take place every 4 years.

The difference this year is that we as a nation have to deal with a public health issue that threatens everyone of us.

We should not have to choose our health or exercising our right to vote.

Vote by mail has been a safe and secure method used for years.

There is no differeence this year.

Trump has created a false narrative.

He is the voter fraud we should be focused on.

If you are concerned about security of the election 1) why has the Trump admin done nothing to protect our system from outside interference and 2) threaten to cut funding to the USPS which would make our voting infrastructure more fragile?

Trump wants to put voters at risk, our election at risk, and our democracy at risk.

He is the danger to our country.

Upward thumb to Banks post.

Thumb down to Red and Kid firehose of distraction.

The media must NOT let the USPS story drop.   The situation is a travesty and the need for action should be obvious all across the partisan spectrum,  except for the shit-brown wavelengths of fascism and tyranny.

https://www.npr.org/2020/08/15/902735007/purge-of-senior-officials-at-foreign-broadcast-agency-stirs-fear-and-outrage

A sweeping purge of executives at U.S. government media outlets widened this week.

At least six of the top 10 executives at the U.S. Agency for Global Media were removed from their posts on Wednesday. Critics say the housecleaning threatens to destroy the firewall meant to separate government news entities from the White House. They warn it could turn broadcasters such as the Voice of America and Radio Free Europe into distributors of propaganda on behalf of the Trump administration....

As an example of the new climate pervading the agency, Turner cites the removal of a photo of former USAGM CEO and president, John Lansing, that had hung on the wall in the main hallway. Also removed was a quote from Lansing that read, "A set of unimpeachable facts, and the existence of a baseline of truth, is the foundation that undergirds our democracy, its institutions, and the health, safety and security of all American citizens."

Lansing, who is now NPR's president and CEO, issued a statement sharply criticizing the latest personnel ousters at USAGM as well as the forced departure in June of the heads of global media organizations such as the Voice of America. He called those affected "some of the finest public servants I have ever had the privilege to work with."

"Pack's attempt to discredit them is merely a smokescreen for his attempt to dismantle the legitimate editorial independence of VOA in favor of propagandizing the Agency to favor the Administration," he said.

By the time the Trumpista faction realizes that draining the swamp is to be followed by installing a radioactive waste dump,  it will be too late.    Wake the fuck up.
No one is a bigger hero than the last guy out the door.

Sometime less than a month from now, we will hit the point at which 2% of the country will have contracted the coronavirus.

Also likely within a month, we will have passed Sweden, then Italy, then the UK, and then Spain in number of deaths per capita from this disease.

Over the last 7 weeks (almost) since we reached our lowest average daily deaths (521), we have averaged over 900 deaths per day.

Ward wishes it had been higher.

Jeez.
First off, why should a woman have to drop her family name?
Maybe she should go by Mrs. Douglas Emhoff?

Also, she didn't get married until after 50, when she had made a name for herself.
And get a grip ...
