Checks and balances

Its happening as we speak.

The point is that this is a misuse of the Emergency Declaration as a mechanism to bypass checks and balances.

The country wont be any worse off with 200 miles of wall built.  Odds are tough border jobs get a bit easier - and true asylum seekers have an easier time as well.

I have no idea why ya'all's knickers are in a twist, except to see Trump "lose".

If he gets it done then he gets re-elected - is that what your concern is?  Might be better to let him do it then use it against him in the election.

Some people think their country's borders being breached by advantage-takers is all sweet.

Others hold a different view and believe that the said invasion is indeed an emergency that needs a serious response.
Do you ever stop and ask yourself, "why do I need to make this post?"

Yes.

Trump is taking his cue from his supporters, who believe that if his declaration of an emergency is what's needed to get the wall built then so be it.
"Whatever it takes".
He was elected on the promise of a wall. He's fulfilling that promise...as he should.
Whatever it takes!!!!!! He was elected on the promise of a wall that Mexico would pay for.  He's never going to fulfill it.

https://www.foxnews.com/opinion/mexico-will-pay-for-a-wall-trump-is-right

Mexico WILL pay for a wall – Trump is right

#####

He'll probably never get it built though, the next election is looming.
A lot of words expended when "he lied, but his supporters don't care" would have sufficed.

I'm here living alone...one member of the gang is overseas.
I can't do even one push-up.
I need a hand gun. I'm not allowed to own a hand gun.
My little dog would probably roll over for the home invaders to give her a tummy rub.
I'm a sitting duck.

Hmmm, I'll have to lobby for 'absolute security', instead of the 'pretend security' that the complex has in place now.
Some hope for that, but not much.

Oh well, looks like the prayer book is my only real hope.

Maybe I'll watch Home Alone again, booby traps might help.

What happens when the next President, failing to "get the cash" from Congress on such issues, declares Climate Change and Gun Violence to be national emergencies in order to "get the cash"?
We will be treated to the edifying sight of Republicans rediscovering their core principles. Cf., the national debt.
The GOP should just admit that deficits don’t matter. After all they didn’t under Obama and according to you that spurred the recovery that Trump inherited and made better ((the Obama/Trump Bull Stock Market is in the midst of a record run).  It was the Lord of Economics, Paul Krugman, who told Obama to spend more with inflation and interest rates low and guess what?  They are still low. The only thing the GOP figured out was that  tax cuts can add to growth and further prosperity.  Life is good.

Mulvaney already admitted it.

He admitted that the GOP position on deficits during the Obama administration was only to angle for tax cuts for the wealthy.

He also admitted that their goal in those years was to keep Obama from getting legislative victories, regardless of whether the bill was good for the country.

He basically admitted he and his colleagues are amoral self-serving hypocrites.

Like you and Kiiid and Bambi.

Most quoted, least applicable to Earth as it will be at end of century, with much arable land lost to desertification, inundation, saltation, sprawl, and aquifer depletion.
Not to worry. Earth, according to AOC, will be gone long before then.
I can see why you think she is hot.

Citation, with in context quote?  Your understanding of the GND seems both lacking in the actual details and tinged with a misplaced Commiephobia.  And then there's your old johnson, which keeps traitorously ascending whenever you hear her name.
LOL. I say let her talk. Nancy and Diane aren’t stupid though. They, at least, know what they are doing.

Or to translate, "Well, no, she never said that Earth will be gone long before then. I just make shit up."

About fucking time that somebody in this administration was held responsible for the criminally negligent (at best) way they handled the children they took from their parents and then intentionally failed to record where the children were sent.

Almost 6,000 sexual abuse complaints by unaccompanied minors over the 2014-2018 5 year period. Roughly 1 per week over the last three years by HHS staff!

The complaints were released by a Flordiat Representative from the GOP.

Texans overwhelmingly oppose the declaration of "emergency" about the border.

Right on, Alaska dude

Trump wants to use his emergency powers to divert Pentagon funds to build a wall along the southern border. Defenders of the wall say it would help block undocumented immigrants and drugs from entering the United States, citing the more than 70,000 domestic drug overdose deaths in 2017 alone.

“If that’s not an emergency, 72,000 dead Americans killed by opioids and heroin in one year, I have no frickin’ idea what an emergency is,” Sen. Dan Sullivan, R-Alaska, said at the hearing.
