Americans sold cocaine to our own people to fund wars in Latin America. And whenever people have to be shady about something, or do something illegal to achieve their means, then you know it is not right.
Flooding our cities with cocaine which they made into crack, to fund wars. It was all bullshit. And in the wars, there were Americans supporting both sides. So people were dying, and we were helping to support both sides against each other, and people were selling cocaine to our people to support the carnage.
People still sell drugs to pay for weapons, etc. The FARC and the ELN in Colombia are both funded by cocaine. Just like the Muslim terrorists are funded by heroin, and like the Mexican cartels are funded by meth, etc.
The illegal drugs are all bad, and when you do illegal drugs then you are supporting some bad people who do bad things. Seriously, just say no.
And on the issue of the French, the French always supported the Americans. And we should have supported King Louis XVI, King Louis supported the Americans against England, and France went broke helping the Americans.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/France_in_the_American_Revolutionary_WarFrance was also mostly on the side of the Union in the Civil War, and some of the British supported the slave owners. But neither France nor England wanted to enter the war, so they both remained neutral.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cinco_de_Mayohttps://history.com/news/cinco-de-mayo-battle-puebla-civil-warThe French should have kept King Louis XVI, whom should have been supported by the USA.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/French_Revolutionhttps://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Louis_XVI_of_FranceMost French like to believe that the USA and France have always been allies, and the French love the USA, and certainly there have been times when we helped each other.
But, Happy Cinco de Mayo! It is what it is.
Salute,
