Trump got the news while playing at his golf club in Sterling, VA.

Karma for the guy who bitched about Obama playing while President.

He will never concede.

Hopefully soon we'll get a DEM candidate for Prez who campaigns boldly on ending the war on drugs.  Oregon just took a small step in that direction.  But it wasn't long ago that even medical marijuana was seen as fringe and quixotic.  The drug war has been a complete disaster, from excessive incarceration, corrupt police, over-policing, flooding the judicial system, criminals making tons of money, whole countries being corrupted form top to bottom, drugs cut with dangerous additives, etc.  And for all the money wasted on the Drug War, drugs are still widely available at affordable prices.

A massive social and political failure just waiting to be challenged.
And legal marijuana tax provides plenty of money to expand and fund mental health treatment and counseling.  Treat people humanely.  Addiction shouldn't be a criminal matter.

Unfortunately, the Dems seem to be relying more on law enforcement types (Kamala et al.) and ex-military.  In their never-ending quest to emulate the GOP.

If RBG had lived an extra 4 months, Biden could have kicked off his presidency by placing Obama on the Supreme Court.

She should have re-signed during the Obama admin and when she had all her health problems.

Statement from Barack Obama

I could not be prouder to congratulate our next President, Joe Biden, and our next First Lady, Jill Biden.

I also couldn’t be prouder to congratulate Kamala Harris and Doug Emhoff for Kamala’s groundbreaking election as our next Vice President.

In this election, under circumstances never experienced, Americans turned out in numbers never seen. And once every vote is counted, President-Elect Biden and Vice President-Elect Harris will have won a historic and decisive victory.

We’re fortunate that Joe’s got what it takes to be President and already carries himself that way. Because when he walks into the White House in January, he’ll face a series of extraordinary challenges no incoming President ever has – a raging pandemic, an unequal economy and justice system, a democracy at risk, and a climate in peril.

I know he’ll do the job with the best interests of every American at heart, whether or not he had their vote. So I encourage every American to give him a chance and lend him your support. The election results at every level show that the country remains deeply and bitterly divided. It will be up to not just Joe and Kamala, but each of us, to do our part – to reach out beyond our comfort zone, to listen to others, to lower the temperature and find some common ground from which to move forward, all of us remembering that we are one nation, under God.

Finally, I want to thank everyone who worked, organized, and volunteered for the Biden campaign, every American who got involved in their own way, and everybody who voted for the first time. Your efforts made a difference. Enjoy this moment. Then stay engaged. I know it can be exhausting. But for this democracy to endure, it requires our active citizenship and sustained focus on the issues – not just in an election season, but all the days in between.

Our democracy needs all of us more than ever. And Michelle and I look forward to supporting our next President and First Lady however we can.

I think Trump will be fine after seeing this all through

2024 should be interesting

The statement from the campaign was actually quite measured and reasonable.  You are right - Trump for now will keep playing at this election - like any Democrat would in similar circumstance.

Campaign is being criticized somewhat for 2 things:

1)  the over the top campaign vs mail in voting
2)  currently not having a good enough ready to go team to continue the fight

Read the Constitution

Article I, Section 10, Clause 3:

No State shall, without the Consent of Congress, lay any Duty of Tonnage, keep Troops, or Ships of War in time of Peace, enter into any Agreement or Compact with another State, or with a foreign Power, or engage in War, unless actually invaded, or in such imminent Danger as will not admit of delay.

A Constitutional Ammendment or Congressional Approval could change things but  either needs such heavy lifting they won’t be tried.  What we have is a movement to establish a cartel of states to permanently elect Presidents to the detriment of the rest of the states.
No state today is prohibited from assigning its electors to the winner of the “ popular” vote.
None do.
Why is that?

Because it hasn't hit 270, yet. As soon as it does, they will.

And it will be legal for them to do so, because the Constitution is filled with areas of potential conflict - but that is not among them.

That interstate agreement is cricket until SCOTUS says otherwise. Don't hold your breath.

I thought so at the time, and thought she would.
Worked out badly for the Dems.

(I also thought JP Stevens should have retired under Clinton and somehow he made it all through 8 years of W Bush)

Defund the Police also worked out badly for the DEMS

Should've gone with Reform instead of Defund

Military spending is too high.  It's always going to be high (as it should) but even a 1% reduction and re-distribution to social programs would be hugely beneficial.

He can put both Obamas on the Court, Barack and Michelle.

Barrett never made it out of committee.

Kavanaugh perjured himself under oath in front of congress.

That’s two current openings.

Latino groundswell in AZ and several other states helped.   White suburbans flipped in significant numbers.  Nebraskans, for goddsakes,  helped,  and that's not exactly a community of color.   White men with graduate degrees.   Native Americans.   Labor union members.   Old white people.   I could go on,  but I hope you see my point.   People from all walks of life,  all ethnicities,  all creeds,  turned out.
