"Defund the Police" needs to give way to "Fund our Communities" and "Re-train the Police"
How about if the police and the community sit down and have a chat about what this phrase means, first: "Protect and Serve".
Is that by the same author as "To Serve Man?"
The question is a valid one. Every community needs to determine, first, what it means for its police to "protect and serve" that community.
That you want to dismiss that question do readily tells us you aren't serious about examining the complex issues that surround policing communities effectively and with the collaboration of a given community.
That you want to pretend that my comment was a serious response is on you, not me.
Dodge and duck, Josh. It's what you do.
The prevailing leftist philosophy is that only the police need to change their behavior in a community. The right-wing says they're only doing their job to combat a community that protects and serves a criminal element within it's environs.
Communities that have reformed and improved have created partnerships between the police and key members of the community who have influence. Together, they've defined "protect and serve" as protecting the citizenry and serving the community as being the responsibility of the police AND the people.
So, you can continue to embrace ignorance and throw snark, or...you could grow up.
