I think Biden should appoint one or two sitting Republican senators from states with Democratic governors, and then fire them in two or three months.

They’d just bitch up like Judd Greg.

Republican Leader McCarthy may actually have an ability to form an alliance with 10 or 12 Democrats, who literally are in districts where they're going to get wiped out in '22 unless they find some way to separate," Gingrich told "America's Newsroom."

"If that happens, McCarthy actually will have more maneuvering on the floor than will Speaker Pelosi," he added.

Fuck Newt Gingrich.

Given the choice between Republicans and Republicans lite voters will go for the real thing.

Moderate Democrats still haven’t figured out regardless the district you have to give voters a real choice.

Well, if there was ever a commentator with his finger on the pulse of the Democratic party it is Newt Gingrich.

Except a moderate just won the White House.

I believe the discussion was about House districts.

Democrats have to learn weaponized slogans about police reform (Defund the Police) and Socialism
are racial resentment attacks.

That has to be addressed directly, not shied away from.

Kleptocrats and oligarchs invest considerable effort in defaming socialist policy.   They know this helps keep labor dirt cheap and unprotected from exploitation.   If they can add racial resentment to their patter,  feed that to the white working class,  even better.

Given how many suburban voters cast Biden votes but then GOP votes down-ballot,  I'd say plutocrats mostly won this round.   We remain a center-right nation.   Biden will do his best,  but I don't see GA going for two Dem senators who are down four points in polls.   Really,  at this point,  I think AOC is correct,  that Dems need to get out of the middle of the road and offer a more robust alternative to GOP neoliberalism.   And that won't happen without election finance reform.

"Defund the Police" needs to give way to "Fund our Communities" and "Re-train the Police"

Russia says its COVID-19 vaccine is 92% effective

Must be that Trump Operation Warp Speed at work again ...

The Russian vaccine also requires two doses given 21 days apart.  Probably requires cold storage (though the article doesn't say)

Btw, according to Pfizer, they didn't take any gov't money for R&D on their vaccine and they denied being part of Op Warp Speed.
Then thought better of pissing off Trump and said they were part of Warp Speed because the gov't offered
to buy millions of doses in advance.

Yep, Reform the Police.
But Defund the Police was a bold eye-catching controversial message that caught people's attention to the issue/problem.

During the 2020 election, a bunch of cities passed police reform measures ranging from civilian review boards to funding for mental health initiatives.  And people became more aware of alternatives to sending police to deal with homeless and other matters where social workers and mental health pros can do better.

Some local pols needed to do a better job of explaining their position and providing nuance and details to counter the GOP broadbrush/smear.   The Dems should have looked at it as an opportunity to discuss what wasn't working and how to have better policing and better outcomes.  Contrast with the GOP-supported practice of militarizing the police which isn't popular.  Do the hard work of explaining.
