http://nymag.com/intelligencer/2020/01/republican-cover-up-trump-impeachment-ukraine.html

This was a good line(and paragraph that followed) from the article:

So far, Republicans have dismissed the new evidence with juvenile logic games.

In the post-truth era,  those chickenshit games and party loyalty matter more than getting all facts pertinent to the case.   Democracy, as a system based on determinable truths,  is in its death spiral.

BTW- If the choice was between Trump and.a potted plant I’m going with the plant.

Yes.  And the random person on 5th Ave

You have already put yourself in a box.  No need to chime in.

Put myself in a box the day that fucking fraud rode the escalator past all the paid supporters.

The only thing this fuck ever accomplished on his own was being the fastest swimmer in the load Fred Trump dropped in 1945. If he wasn’t Fred’s kid he’d a wound up as a squeegee guy at the off ramp of the Queensborough Bridge.

Fuck anyone who voted for that shit head and double fuck anyone who still supports the walking piece of shot.

Thumbs up.

Kid and his ilk consider adherence to constitutional principles to be "in a box. "  Fuck his dishonest and morally bankrupt rhetoric.

You seem to have more confidence than expertise...or reading ability.  It appears Bart is on Team Amy.

Sanders smear of Biden on Soc Sec. is more worrisome than HRC's comments.  See Krug this a.m.  Bernie could be the guru of the progressive wing, but actual competition doesn't bring out his best side, and is hard on his heart.

Hey, at least Bernie apologized for this one. A rarity!

Sekulow & Cipollone have made a wonderful opening invitation to the House managers to wax specific about violations of various criminal codes that impact directly on the matters of abuse of power and obstruction of Congress.

Schumer has described the scope of the unsurrendered evidence needed to fairly and impartially get to the bottom of what has occurred.

Senators are emptying their bladders, fixing their makeup, and raising a hubbub.

Close act I. Cue act II.

In a significant change that was quietly made to Sen. Mitch McConnell's resolution, there are now three days of opening arguments over 24 hours. The initial language had just two days. McConnell's office confirms they made the change.

These changes just occurred prior to the start of the trial. There are also changes to the evidence section – evidence will be admitted unless there is a vote in opposition to it.

There were Republican senators who had issues with McConnell’s resolution, according to sources familiar. These last minute changes were meant to address those issues.

Interesting.

From the outside looking in;

https://www.dailytelegraph.com.au/rendezview/miranda-devine-trumps-impeachment-only-has-one-outcome-his-election-win/news-story/64cc50e060085733e544af18eebfa644

Miranda Devine: Election result is the only Trump verdict that counts

US President Donald Trump’s impeachment trial is a farcical temper tantrum aimed at overturning the result of the 2016 election,
writes Miranda Devine. And the gambit is backfiring.

As the impeachment trial of President Donald Trump opens in the US Senate, two images on the front page of the New York Post last week encapsulate this surreal moment in American history.

In one photo, Democrat House Speaker Nancy Pelosi is signing the impeachment papers and in the other, the President is signing a breakthrough trade deal with China.

Pelosi signed with 30 fancy gold pens engraved with her name, using each pen to draw a single stroke, and then triumphantly handed them out as impeachment souvenirs to her grinning colleagues.

“The House’s partisan process distilled into one last perfect visual,” Republican Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell tweeted. “A transparently political exercise from beginning to end.”

The crime team is getting baited to draw this out past a critical mass of primaries.

This looks like the Mueller investigation playing out in real time, starting with a bunch of republicans trying not to make a stink about what was going on right in front of them until it jumped the rails into bat shit crazy and unavoidably criminal. The Senators aren’t bound by any DOJ memo.

Every factual objection raised by the defense now engenders a round of relitigation of a subset of evidence and witnesses mentioned in the amendments now tabled on party lines.

They also have to be careful who and what and how they reference anything in their rebuttals. Clear discrepancies in the record in dispute between the parties naturally calls for more evidence.

If trump does have a general he likes, it seems to be Custer.
