It seems like such a lawyerly argument,  from redward, that Congress in failing to use the proper terminology to describe Trump's bribery and obstruction,  somehow failed to address any real wrongdoing.   It's a cute way to duck the obvious facts that are now solidly proven,  of a POTUS violating his oath,  the nation's interests,  and fair and independent elections.

Similarly,  the parsing of Congress as somehow not embodying the "will of the people" or able to act on behalf of said will seems like more lawyerly double talk.   How on earth do you think those members of Congress get there - dropped from an alien mothership?
They.  Are.  Elected.   By the people,  75% of them wanting a trial with witnesses.

How often do 75% of Americans agree on something like that?   If a 75% majority can't get any traction with their elected representatives then democracy is completely broken.

So you're still choosing not to answer my question.   Where are the "other" high crimes and misdemeanors defined in the Constitution? That's fine.  I'll look for a better teacher.
Let me know if you get a different answer.

Guess we will find out in November.

Lamar Alexander joins Marco Rubio in explaining that he needed no further witneses to know that the President was guilty. "
That is not what LaMar Alexander said.

It was inappropriate for the president to ask a foreign leader to investigate his political opponent and to withhold United States aid to encourage that investigation.
But the Constitution does not give the Senate the power to remove the president from office and ban him from this year’s ballot simply for actions that are inappropriate.
LaMar Alexander-Thursday, January 30, 2020

The House Democrats, without a single republican vote, impeached Trump on grounds of
“Abuse of Power and obstruction of Congress” neither of which come close to the constitutional definitions of “ high crimes and misdemeanors”.

Alexander concluded by stating
our founding documents provide for duly elected presidents who serve with the ‘ consent of the governed’, not at the pleasure of Congress
Let the People decide.

You may not agree, but at least get the statement correct from Senator Alexander.

“Yeah. He did it but what do you want me to do about it? I still have to eat and who needs to worry about retribution from some AR toting MAGA whack job? No thank you.”

Senator Lamar “Lamar!” Alexander

“Abuse of Power and obstruction of Congress” neither of which come close to the constitutional definitions of “ high crimes and misdemeanors”.

As our resident Constitutional scholar, I'm sure you can point to exactly where in the Constitution "high crimes and misdemeanors" is defined as you're defining it.
You mean like in section 4 four of Article Two of the actual US Constitution ?

The President, Vice President and all civil Officers of the United States, shall be removed from Office on Impeachment for, and Conviction of, Treason, Bribery, or other high Crimes and Misdemeanors."

If you followed the arguments of Adam Shiff  remember he maintained before the Senate that Trump did commit Treason and Bribery. Yet the Impeachment never mentions either, just the nebulous contentions of “ abuse of power” and “ obstruction of Congress”.  The Senate considered both to be nowhere close to impeachable. Indeed, democrat Senator Joe Manchin just argued that there was never any path to conviction of Trump on those charges. Instead Manchin said it would have been better to censure the President.

The same Senate the refused to look at any additional evidence.

Some of the same Senators who declared abuse of power was impeachable 20 years ago.

And Manchin's maunderings are almost less reliable than yours!

The notion that abuse of power is somehow a lesser crime than lying about sex is uniquely GOP.

The GOP combined abuse of power and lying about sex while pursuing Clinton for almost everything imaginable but settling for lying about a blow-job.

Lets remember that as the GOP was hunting Clinton for his indiscretions, Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich was cheating on his cancer-ridden wife, his successor-designee, Robert Livingston, had to decline the position following revelations of his extramarital affair. Eventually the GOP settled on Denny Hastert, serial pedophile, as Speaker of the House.

Dear politicians,

Please be aware that everything you say unless you are with your campaign manager in a closed room, alone, is being caught on recorders.

Everything!

No need to have done so (and given that these are paper trail results, damned unlikely).

Remember it was a couple cycles ago that it took Santorum 2 weeks to realize he had won the Iowa caucuses.
