Scratch Woodrow Wilson’s name from the Business College at Princeton.
Racist, ya know!
Seems like every day now we learn a founder or stalwart of the democrat party is now regarded as some sort of foul fellow.
Let’s see who is left?
FDR jailed  Japanese Americans and Harry Truman regularly used the N and K words in referring to blacks and Jews.
Where will it all end?

FDR was also anti-Jews, Ward.

Would you like a list of bigoted Republicans, too?

Have you truly not figured it out, yet? WHITES WERE RACIST. And... as you demonstrate, the vast majority of WHITES ARE RACIST.

I know, you deny it. You must be like Trump, "the least racist person."

We've been watching colleges remove names of racists and slave owners from buildings and programs for years, now. Where the fuck have you been that it took this level of activity to draw your attention to it?!

The suffragettes? Racist beyond belief. The abolitionists? Sexist as anything. And today's left has plenty of racists, sexists, and antisemites, too. Sexual predators, as well. The right has at least as many - but when the left sees them, we try to root them out. When the right sees them, they renominate them and praise them and celebrate them.

It's an important difference.

Republicans seemingly will bury Trump

https://www.rasmussenreports.com/public_content/politics/elections/election_2020/52_plan_to_vote_against_trump_next_year_for_now

21% say they will vote against him, leading to the 52-42 Biden lead

But WILL THEY when it comes down to the actual vote?

Probably not.

They’ll probably just stay home.

Right wing fasciods combine ignorance, laziness, incompetence, solipsism, nastiness, and graft to get uniform failing results In all areas of policy.

Here’s just one more glaring egregious example,

The Dems need to make the case for the need for a Dem Senate.  They need to go for a full tidal wave landslide.

Talk about how the Dem House stopped the GOP from trying again to kill Obamacare and take away health insurance for 25M Americans.  Remind folks that only a courageous vote by McCain saved Obamacare, and that since then the GOP has lined up behind Donald Trump on all issues.  That there are no McCain's or men of principle left in the far right Trump GOP.

That the Trump Admin is still trying to use the courts to kill Obamacare and harm 25M Americans ... even during an unprecedented health emergency.  That a DEM Senate will stock the courts to counter the right wing extremists Trump and McConnell have larded them with.  The kind of judges likely to overrule Wade v Roe or kill Obamacare.

Talk about how with a DEM Congress, all Americans will have health insurance like every other wealthy western country.   Talk about returning the country to normal , realigning with allies, supporting workers and not the wealthy, making a fairer society for all Americans, and list other issues on environment, education, etc.

But also talk about making government work by hiring competent people and following science and expert advice.  Explain that the long Trump Nightmare is almost over.

Reference how the GOP Senate thwarted much of the Obama promise and wasted 6 years of potential progress.  That America can't afford a non-loyal opposition again.  That it's time for the US to rise up and restore its economy and place in the world.
That we need a Unified Gov't to get things done.

People know.

People are still in the streets...

Progressives are winning primaries

Trump and GOP are fucking up a thousand miles an hour.

When your opponent is beating the shit out of himself it’s best to stay out of his way...

Meanwhile, to figure out what’s what, Skip the national media and read the folks on the ground.

Somebody paid a bunch of folks in Patterson New Jersey to go to jail on behalf of President Trump.

Okay, that's pretty unlikely to be what happened, but... it sure sounds as if this was badly enough handled to make it seem that way!

https://www.realclearpolitics.com/articles/2020/06/26/1_in_5_ballots_rejected_as_fraud_is_charged_in_nj_mail-in_election_143551.html

Four men charged in election fraud efforts. Multiple elections on hold. BUNDLES of ballots found in mailboxes. Admission of collecting both filled and unfilled ballots from individual mail boxes. People swearing they did not vote.

The question asked at the end of the article is a good one, though: When will President Trump learn about this and start tweeting?!

Note that this is a right leaning author, but despite that tilt, the story is an important, if unfortunate, one.

Without reading 5he article the salient point appears to be the violators were caught...

The Obama Top 50 accomplishment list confirms my impression of the O Era.

4 of the Top 10 occurred in the first 2 years and involved restoring the economy.  But most of those were halfway measures because the Dems couldn't line up their side.

Obamacare was the Heritage/Romneycare GOP plan that kept private insurance as the middleman ... and only covered half of the uninsured.

The stimulus bill was too small and too tilted towards useless tax cuts.  Just look at the size of the economic rescue(s) under Trump/Covid.

Wall Street Reform didn't go far enough, have enough teeth, and no one was prosecuted for all the misfeasance.  Business as usual pretty quickly.

The Auto Industry bailout was an unequivocal success, and helped Obama win Ohio and the presidency.  Romney offered to let the auto companies go bankrupt.

Foreign Policy:

Killing bin Laden another complete bold success.
Hell, the Dems should tout themselves as the Auto industry and dead bin Laden party ... instead of letting those achievements just fade away.

Iran nuke deal was a solid reasonable compromise.  Better than the misery Trump is placing on the Iranians for no reason.

Paris Accords.  Good stuff.  Voluntary targets set by your own gov't.  US likely the only country where there is doubt about climate change.  Besides the US which has threatened to pull out, I think only Syria and Nicaragua didn't sign on.  Hurrah for us.

The two LGBT issues in the Top 10, the Obama Admin didn't lead on.  I was amazed how quickly US opinion went from maybe civil unions were okay, to f*** that gay marriage is what's right.  The O Admin basically sat that issue out.

After that, it's mostly small bore stuff.  The kind of thing O was able to squeak through with exec orders.  Mostly positive stuff, Trump has been busy undoing.  But just underscores how hampered and ineffective the last 6 years of Obamadom were.

Though I'd take #50 Scandal-free and move that into the Top 10.  Good government is important.  Trump Admin is nothing if not endless scandals.  And as we've seen blindingly in 2020, good government saves lives, while bad government kills

The GOP outrage manufacturing industry threw sand in the gears of the Obama Administration assisted by the mainstream media.

Important to note who he was dealing with in Congress during most of his tenure---puts those accomplishments in proper context. Also, he was the first scandal free Prez since Ike.

Hugely embarrassing that Dems lost the Senate two years after taking over the disastrous Bush who crashed the economy and got us into 2 endless wars.
Actually they lost a Senate race in MA before that which is inexcusable.

They lost the House based on racial fear and resentment over the bailouts and healthcare.

The very thing that helped the nation is what the GOP used to take control.

You guys are beginning to understsnd all politics in the USA is “Identity Politics.”

Obama lost his approval among white people when it counted most, the Summer of 2009 when the Democratic Senate should have bumrushed the GOP but Joe Lieberman...

Obama couldn’t swing the Presidential hammer because white people were mad he called a cop stupid.

Bottom line.

This is where the Dems could use Soros/Bloomberg PAC money and make very targeted consisent and coherent attacks against the complicity and cowardice of Senate Repubs in empowering and refusing to question an inept authoritarian dangerous nut-job like Trump.

The Blue Tsunami may hit the US shore hard this year but when waters retreat in the out years and the damage done by the Trump-Repubs become glaringly obvious, its going to up to the Dems to clean up the Repub mess, so they're the ones who will get dirty.

But Repubs will then blame Dems for a slow clean up effort. And that they have the answers to right the ship, hello 2022 off-year elections!

So Dems basically have to run-up the score in 2020, and neuter as many Repubs as possible, gain the WH, House and Senate, clean up the disaster, feeding the hungry, heal the sick, and put together a sane package (maybe infrastructure-jobs, expanded heathcare, continued government support for an ongoing economic recovery, rebuilding US stature with traditional allies,) that doesn't scare mod and indy voters in 2022. Stay the fuck away from medicare for all and soaking the rich and corps in taxes, hold-off  on controversial, divisive stuff, as Dems will need time and consensus to rebuild America, and there will be pain and costs to be borne and likely by those that have disproportionately and unfairly benefitted over the past 40 or so years.

This generation out in the streets aren’t nearly as stupid or racist as previous ones, boomers to be precise.

We have the consensus to fix the nation except from folks who see the situation as status quo.

I've been thinking the same thing.  Exactly where Bloomberg's money/org could help.  A coordianted national effort would be useful.

Disagree.  Get everyone covered by health insurance.  Obamacare is popular and will be more so once the cracks are fixed.

Certainly need to reverse the ill-conceived ill-timed Trump tax cuts.
States are drowning in debt.  And will need support.
One of my solutions is to make companies pay a minimum of 15% tax on profits.  no more zeroing out.  No more billion dollar profits and zero tax.

You need to fight for what you believe and stand for something.  And do the right thing.  Moderate, GOP-lite is not the answer for the Dems.

Still early to worry about ads when Lincoln Project is shredding Trump with GOP positions. Trump campaign has deep pockets, ask Brad.

Tom Steyer will probably spend big, especially if Kamala
Harris is on the ballot because he wants that senate seat.

This the time to go HUGE.

I think Dems with the electoral trifecta (P/S/H) can deliver Obamacare +, a better  and expanded health insurance program, BUT stay the fuck away from deeply controversial medicare for all that we know will be politicized and demonized in 2022.

Some corp tax cuts can be tinkered with, and minimum payments (an AMT of 15% for large corps doesn't sound crazy or unfair) BUT as the US is coming out of a economic disaster/recession/depression raising corrporate taxes is economically, finanacially and ultimately politically counterproductive. Its a loser.

Dems have to show they can realistically fashion programs and tax plans that big biz can prosper under even if they bitch about it, and they will. The Dems will lose in 2022 if they go too far left in 20-22, and jeopardize 2024.

this is a marathon not a sprint, so don't waste all your energy on the first 100 meters.

Nothing is the same!

This is not economic collapse like 2008

This is economic collapse

40 million unemployed

Civic disruption on a massive scale

125000 dead and climbing in late June

How does that return to business as usual by 2022?

All those kids in the streets came through middle, high school and college during a Barack Obama Administration.

They’ve seen Trump
They’ve seen Barr loose the Secret Police
They saw the Mueller Report and the Impeachment

Do you really think they’ll fall for the GOP white identity politics?

The World Turned Upside Down.

http://www.salon.com/2020/06/27/bill-barr-is-even-worse-than-you-think-his-entire-job-is-to-protect-donald-trump/

https://exjournalistsunite.wordpress.com/2019/05/02/so-what-if-barr-wont-testify-today-weve-already-seen-all-we-need-to-see/

With that, the attorney general of the United States sat in front of the nation’s representatives and lied his ass off . . . again. The attorney general is supposed to be the people’s lawyer, but on Wednesday Barr revealed himself as the personal attorney for the president. Barr not only acted as the president’s defense lawyer, he also acted as a PR flack.

In the process Barr seriously damaged the reputation and effectiveness of the intelligence community. What worried me the most is how he kept inserting some of the most ridiculous right-wing conspiracy theories into the language of the chief law enforcement officer of the United States of America.

https://exjournalistsunite.wordpress.com/2019/05/09/what-should-the-good-guys-do-in-the-wake-of-barrs-infamy/

Attorney General William Barr has given up any pretense of being the attorney for the United States. He proved that he is, in essence, the lead defense attorney for President Donald Trump. Going forward, any investigation in which he exercises supervision is now tainted because of his naked display of partisanship.

Read the room.

If you DON"T want to piss away the chance for long-term meaningful societal reforms, you play it smart, not big.

The room you're reading is in NYC and Washington and SF

But there are rooms all over the country who are sick of Trump, afraid of Trump, but don't quite trust Dems and BIG govt.

Don't give them a reason to backslide, don't scare them with HUGE medicare plans that will be demonized as taking away their choices, and don't scare them with HUGE tax increases to pay for the HUGE defecits run-up by Trump's avarice.

Play it too big, and you risk losing Congress in 2022 and then the WH in 2024.

Be smart and build an FDR-type coalition of Dems and moderates and Indies multi-race, muli-religion that can achieve long-term societal goals for decades

And which might start to fulfill the promise of the American Dream for all.

But you can't scare the shit out of them coming out of the gate.
