RE: cleaning up voting list.
There are legitimate reasons for removing names from these lists - death and moving into another state/county. I see no reason why this should not be a reasonable "housekeeping" matter.
On a similar Issue, Voter ID's, I have never been asked to present a picture ID to vote.
I give my name and address, my birthdate, and sign my signature. period. Of course, other
Jurisdictions can do it differently, but the Gov't issued photo ID requirement is just what opponents
Say it is: a means to deny voting rights to a portion of the population. The portion that one political party has maintained "is too ignorant to be informed voters."
It's by state, isn't it?
So you are saying there are REPUBLICAN states?
All of Ohio's decision points for.the redistricting process have been controlled by the Repos for a couple decades. As result both the state house and the US house delegation do not really represent the voters of the state at large. In part that is unavoidable; wide swaths of the state are rural Republican, Cleveland is almost completely Democratic and short of physically transporting people on election day, nothing is going to change it. But take a look at District 9, which in addition to being packed with aliens extends across Lake Erie from Toledo to the liberal Eastern suburbs of Cleveland, 130 miles long and in places maybe 3 miles wide - actually, in one place, the width of the bridge over Sandusky Bay. The 13th is basically a barbell with Akron on one end and Youngstown on the other. The 1st and 2nd split the City of Cincinnati in two, and the Cleveland suburbs are divided into 5 different district, 4 of which are dominantly rural. It is obvious from looking at the map; four rural districts reach up to Cleveland like snakeheads. This was done deliberately to create the maximum number of Republican districts and the fewest possible Democratic districts.
Mind you, this kind of thing is done by Democrats where they have the power to do so. I do not think either party should be allowed to do this. Redistricting should be independent of politics.
The District 9 joke was for you, bart. Hope you enjoyed it. I did manage to corral my inner 12 year old and resist all Fudge jokes.
