Mark Eaton
Well that's Mark Eaton.
Hard to believe, but coming out of high school Albert King was more highly rated than Magic (as was Gene Banks). That was a really good high school class. Not only those 3 guys but Jeff Ruland (a far, far better player than people seem to remember), Jeff Lamp (a great college player), Darnell Valentine, Al Wood, Kelly Tripucka and a bunch more.Well that's Mark Eaton.
Correct!
Larry Farmer was the head coach of UCLA from 1981 to 1984, guiding them to a 61–23 (.726) record. He had recruited Earvin "Magic" Johnson to come play at UCLA, but then told Johnson to hold off on a visit as he was more interested in Albert King.[20] Neither played for UCLA.
Okay, I got one.
The 6th Man of the Year was instituted for the '82-'83 season.
Since then only 3 players have won 6th Man with an average of 20+ Pts/game.
And only 3 players have won 6th Man honors with an average below 10 Pts/game.
Both are impressive.
Name those 6th bench greats.
Bonus: Who is the only player to win 6th Man while playing under 20 mins/game?

A contract in China is 50-pages long because it’s written in both Chinese and English. We have a clause that says the English portion of the contract supersedes the Chinese portion. That way if there’s ever a dispute, the English portion is what prevails.”
Beyer said that some clubs insist that the Chinese portion supersedes the English section. Oftentimes, he says, this is because they’ve had a bad experience with a sleazy agent who changed terms in the English portion and proceeded to screw them over. However, most teams and agents are professional and just want to ensure everyone’s on the same page regarding the contract’s terms.

As I keep saying, there's a good deal of slop in his game, and he's erratic, but he does seem to pull it together in crunch time (this one was miss then hit). Still an unquestionably talented player. Fun to watch. Got 13 FT's in this game.

Prior to the 2019 draft the Knicks have selected two players from Duke.
Name them.
Art Heyman and Vince Taylor.
3 out of 4 correct
St Johns - Knicks have drafted 6 guys from this local uni
xxxxxxx -Knicks have drafted 5 guys from this national power
Arizona - Knicks have drafted 4 guys from this party school
Duke - Knicks have drafted 3 guys from this school known for Men's LaCrosse (if they draft RJ Barrett)
I would have guessed Syracuse as the party school.

Russell famously finished his career 10-0 in Game 7s and 16-2 in close-out games. Chamberlain was 4-5 and 10-11, respectively. The two titans met eight times in the playoffs, and Russell won seven of those series, including four Game 7s by a grand total of nine points.

Tucker and House over 45%.
The only consistent contribution they're getting from their bench comes from Simons who could very well be a trade piece for Portland. He's averaging 10.5 points on 40 percent from beyond the arc and 50 percent from the field.
Portland is reportedly going to be active in the trade market, according to ESPN's Brian Windhorst, and Simons would definitely be someone opposing teams would want to have in any trade package with Portland. So, who do they target?

Nets built a culture in Brooklyn. Credit to them. But they cashed it in to lure Kyrie and Kevin, thus selling their souls.
Luka Doncic grew up idolizing LeBron James, and now the young NBA prodigy has joined James in the record book.
Doncic scored a career-high 42 points to go with 12 assists and 11 rebounds as the Mavericks held off the skidding San Antonio Spurs 117-110. Doncic is the second-youngest player in NBA history to have a 40-point triple-double, after James. They are the only two players to record 40-point triple-doubles before turning 21.
Doncic has an NBA-leading six triple-doubles in 13 games this season.
Wow - are they strapped.
a lot of midrange shots and too many pull-ups -- especially floaters from Mike Conley and Donovan Mitchell. Midrangers comprise half of Mitchell's attempts, by far the highest rate of his career.
Opponents are cagier defending Rudy Gobert's rim-running. Some teams appear to be sending help defenders into the lane a beat later than in prior seasons -- and having those guys crash hard when they finally go. The gambit appears to be throwing off Utah's ball handlers. Outside shooters aren't coming open as early. The lob to Gobert is there, and then it isn't. He is averaging 3.9 dunk attempts per 100 possessions, down from 6.2 last season, per Second Spectrum data.
That has left Conley and Mitchell wandering with live dribbles before settling for floaters.
Millsap has probably lost a quarter-step on defense, but he still is a bulwark: physical, always anticipating, forever in the right place at the right time with his magnet hands.
He is the common denominator in most of Denver's best defensive lineups. The Nuggets have allowed 96 points per 100 possessions with Millsap on the court, a number that balloons to 107 when he sits.
The Nuggets and Millsap could not agree on an extension before the season. Denver acquired Jerami Grant as Millsap's potential heir apparent. Grant is off to a slow start. Millsap keeps on trucking. His free agency looms as a more fraught subplot than the Nuggets might have expected.

In addition, the playoff play-in proposal, as outlined by ESPN would include two four-team tournaments featuring the seventh, eighth, ninth, and 10th seeds in each conference. The seventh seed would host the eighth seed, with the winner of that single game earning the seventh spot. The loser would play the winner of the ninth seed vs. the 10th seed for the final playoff spot.

Solve Luka's Clutch Issues
Ron Jenkins/Associated Press
For a team in the early stages of contention, the Mavericks don't have a lot of roster needs. They have the necessary two stars, a host of secondary playmakers, shooters and perimeter defenders, and several serviceable rim protectors.
So we're digging deep to find an issue that, if it's not solved, could halt Dallas' return to prominence.
After performing well enough late in games as a rookie, Luka Doncic has disappeared in big moments this year. The superstar has a minus-9.0 net rating in clutch situations and is shooting just 32.3 percent from the field over 26 games.
Is this just a sophomore slump, or indicative of a larger problem for Dallas' playoff potential? It's tough to tell right now.
On one hand, Luka's elite basketball IQ and excellent statistical production in the first 43 minutes of games suggests it's only a matter of time before he figures out the last five. If Stephen Curry and James Harden, two average vertical athletes in their own right, can lead elite offenses to playoff series victories, why can't Luka?
However, Luka's lack of top-tier athleticism was a question in the draft, so perhaps that mild shortcoming will keep rearing its ugly head for the precocious 21-year old throughout his career.
Doncic cannot shoulder all the blame. Dallas has the fourth-worst clutch net rating leaguewide, and no individual Maverick boasts a positive net rating in those situations. But as the engine of the team's normally elite offense, Luka does bear the most responsibility for Dallas' late-game struggles.
Good draft. That 21-30 is impressive
But Michael singled him [Ho Grant] out on the broadcast [as a primary Smith source for his book] because, you know, Horace was the one who would often stand up to Michael on behalf of the players. In practice, when Jordan sucker punched Will Perdue, Will was practically crying and didn’t fight back; Horace was the one who went to fight back. Horace wasn’t in the card games with Michael, wasn’t in his group and didn’t hang around with him, but he would stand up to him. Horace was going to be a Marine before he turned to basketball; that was always his dream. And that’s why he was so close with Johnny Bach, the military guy on the staff. Horace wasn’t as quick-witted as Michael or as sharp, but Michael didn’t like that Horace wasn’t intimidated by him. He’s still holding that grudge, just like he is with Isiah Thomas and Jerry Krause.
unfortunately, Knix took Jerian Grant #19.

Less than five years into its massive $280 million deal with UCLA, Under Armour is trying to get out. Under Armour informed the school that it wants to terminate the 15-year, $280 million deal. (https://sports.yahoo.com/under-armour-wants-out-ucla-deal-sponsorship-rights-003218717.html) Under Armour reportedly paid UCLA $15 million up front, and then agreed to about $11 million each year in rights and marketing fees. It also provides about $7.4 million in clothing, shoes and equipment each year, and about $2 million each year for facility upgrades.
Brooklyn Nets forward Wilson Chandler is opting out of playing in Orlando, Florida. The Portland Trail Blazers' Trevor Ariza, the Washington Wizards' Davis Bertans, the Los Angeles Lakers' Avery Bradley and the Dallas Mavericks' Willie Cauley-Stein have also told their respective teams that they will not be playing when the season resumes.
A Very Bradley not going to the Bubble.
Lakes might waive him and pick up JEarl Smith who has been out of NBA for two years. JEarl might need to just clear up his blood chemicals a bit.
That hurts the Lakes, as Bradley was a defensive demon and fit well for them (he was starting during their run, I believe). Means LBJ has to play more D and LAL has to rely on Rondo more.
Chemistry absolutely has been one of the Celtics' strong suits this season, though, and it's followed them into the bubble: The C's have had a grand old time on the golf course, swimming pool and volleyball court during their downtime away from practices.
Kanter and point guard Kemba Walker have played a key role in Boston's improved chemistry, as the team's two free-agent additions have meshed seamlessly with a young Celtics squad featuring budding stars in Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown.
The Celtics had plenty of mouths to feed last season with Kyrie Irving, Terry Rozier, Marcus Morris and Al Horford all vying for touches with Tatum, Brown and Gordon Hayward, but Brad Stevens' club has played largely selfless basketball this season en route to a 43-21 regular-season record.
Joe Johnson is 1 of 14 players in NBA history to have 20,000 career points, 5,000 career rebounds, and 5,000 career assists.

Utah's ninth man problem
Another ripple effect of Bojan Bogdanovic's season-ending injury: The Jazz might not have any good options for their last rotation spot.
Emmanuel Mudiay got the first chance. Mudiay might grow into a solid scoring backup. He loves burrowing for floaters and long 2s, and has hit half his midrange shots this season, per Cleaning The Glass. He has the build to defend both guard positions.
But a dribble-happy type lacking a reliable 3-pointer is about the last thing Utah needs off its bench. Its top eight features four better ball handlers than Mudiay: Mike Conley, Donovan Mitchell, Joe Ingles, and Jordan Clarkson. At least two are usually on the floor. Mudiay provides zero spacing for them.
Quin Snyder pulled the plug in the second half Wednesday against Memphis and gave Rayjon Tucker a chance. I'd give Tucker a few games to earn that ninth spot. If he doesn't, the best and only option might be one Snyder appears not to like: an eight-man rotation. Utah should be able to craft one that doesn't stretch anyone's minutes too far.

Kleber & Tim Jr. awful so far ...
Tim was 1-7 with 3 fouls in the 1st half.
Looked lost and low energy.
Give him credit for bouncing back 2nd half (7-11 FG).
But with KZ out and Doncic minorly hobbled, they needed Tim needed and he was a 1st half no show. Lucky Trey Burke was rock solid until Tim was ready.
Doncic continues to be a Bird/Magic hybrid.
Amazing stuff.
Bad ankle and he started the game with drives through and Euro-around defenders.
He also played pretty good D, staying in front of PG-13, and getting a couple of steals.
There is still hope moving forward for Harris and their BIG THREE (plus Al), surely.
With Fultz, may have had something special.

Between the two of them, Mitchell and Murray scored 475 points in this series, which is the most combined points by opposing players in a single series in NBA history, per ESPN Stats and Info, topping the 463 Jerry West and John Havlicek scored in the 1969 Finals.
For the series, Mitchell posted 36.2 points per game on 53-percent shooting, including 51.5 percent from deep and 95 percent from the line. Per StatMuse, he is the first player in history to post at least 35-50-50-90 in those categories for an entire playoff run, albeit a short one for Utah.
Murray, meanwhile, averaged 31.5 points for the series on 55-percent shooting, including 55 percent from deep and 92 percent from the line. He posted two 50-point games with a 42-pointer sandwiched between. The 142 points Murray scored in Games 4-6 is the third-highest total in three consecutive playoff games in NBA history, trailing only Jerry West in 1965 and Michael Jordan in 1988.
Out of 53 NBA players who have tried at least 500 jumpers in the regular season and playoffs, Westbrook ranks last in efficiency, with an effective field goal percentage (eFG) of just 39.8%. How bad is that? Anthony Davis ranks 52nd at 44.7%.

He closed out his first series with a 46 Pt & 25 rebound game
But had just 27 when the Knix knocked his team out.
Kareem had a 38 / 25 / 11 triple double in G2 v. NYK that year
Getting back to the question, the rookie playoff scoring list is interesting (https://stathead.com/tiny/tpGrC?&utm_medium=bbr&utm_source=bbr_player&utm_campaign=basketball&utm_content=bait&utm_term=tatumja01).
#3? Alvin Adams (341 in 19 games)
4 Elgin Baylor (331 in 13 games)
5. Mikan 303 in 10 games
10. Donovan Mitchell 268 in 11 games
There are at least a couple of rookies who scored more than Alcindor or Jabbar in the post-season.
One was a strong suspect, and one I was surprised but not shocked by.
any guesses

According to basketball reference the answer is no one.

Porter's defense is flat out terrible. Knox-like.
Lakes hunt him out.
And he offers so little resistance as a rotating help defender underneath.
Lot to learn, but he does have a nice offensive game.
TOR really hunted out Grant Williams to get back in it down the stretch.
Finally went back to Theis and he fouls out immediately.
NOW, Paul George!!!!!!!

Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban picked up Delonte West at a Dallas gas station on Monday and is attempting to help the homeless former NBA player get his life back on track, Cuban confirmed to ESPN.
Sources close to West told TMZ that his family and friends have been trying to get West to go to a drug rehabilitation facility and that Cuban has offered to pay for his treatment.
Cuban is among several people involved in the NBA who have been attempting to help West, who publicly discussed his diagnosis of bipolar disorder during his NBA career, in recent years. Cuban renewed those efforts after pictures circulated last week of West panhandling at an intersection in Dallas.
Gonna be a hell of a series
Straying with MIAMI.
The Brooklyn Nets named Steve Nash their head coach in early September, but stars Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant see Nash in more of a collaborative role and not as the head of top-down leadership.
"I don't really see us having a head coach," Irving said on Durant's new podcast, "The Etcs." "KD could be a head coach, I could be a head coach [some days]."
Durant followed up by agreeing with Irving, calling it a "collaborative effort" and naming assistant and former interim head coach Jacque Vaughn as someone who could fill the role any given day.
"One thing I've always been comfortable with, I felt like I was the best option on every team I played for down the stretch," Irving said. "This is the first time in my career I've looked down and be like, 'That motherf---er can make that shot too.' And he'll probably do it a lot easier.
Doc Rivers was not idle for very long!
Best of luck to him and the 76ers.
"We were very close," Lakers coach Frank Vogel said. "I felt two bad calls at the end put Butler to the line, you know, and that's unfortunate in a game of this magnitude."
China actually showed G5 of the Finals live, first game they've televised all season.
Not sure why.
They seemed to say that the NBA has buddied up to China enough since Morey's pre-season tweet...

It's time-tested working the officials.
It's basically lobbying for more calls next game and showing your players you've got their back. Pretty standard stuff.
LeBJ or the Lakes will probably pay his upcoming fine.
The Last 2 Minute report showed that Morris' foul on Butler with 46.7 seconds remaining was correct because the Lakers forward made contact with Butler's left arm after the Heat star gathered the ball to enter his shooting motion.
As for the call on Davis with 16.8 seconds remaining, the league also labeled it correct, explaining in the L2M that Davis "jumps from point A to point B and initiates body contact with Butler during his driving shot attempt."

Players can complain - but who is listening?
Johnson battled a cocaine addiction throughout his career. After several suspensions, he finally checked himself into rehab in 1986. After he failed to follow through on mandatory counseling, the NBA suspended him in 1987.[1]
Johnson averaged 15.1 points per game in 675 games played during his 10-year NBA career.[
Johnson was diagnosed with manic depression by psychiatrists in the Cobb County facility; he doubted the accuracy of the diagnosis. He was prescribed with lithium tablets that he stopped taking during the 1980–81 NBA season without the knowledge of the Hawks team. Johnson believed that he no longer needed the medication and that it contributed to his tiredness during games.
The Hawks became aware of the resumption of Johnson's erratic behavior in July 1981 and persuaded him to submit to a local hospital. Johnson showed up at the Hawks' training camp in October directly from the hospital and became increasingly disruptive as he rebuked teammates, left the floor to play with a child in the stands, and jumped rope on the sidelines while oblivious to his surroundings during practice sessions. After being so alarmed by his actions, Atlanta Hawks President Michael Gearon and General Manager Stan Kasten contacted Johnson's psychiatrist, who signed a commitment order to have Johnson placed in Grady Memorial Hospital. Johnson was picked up by police before a planned practice session and taken to Grady. Johnson was taken off the Hawks' suspended list on November 21, 1981.
Johnson's life continued to spiral out of control following his banishment from the NBA. He was arrested and convicted for a litany of crimes over the years, including burglary, robbery, assault on a police officer, and shoplifting. He admitted that he had frequent drug problems which had initially cost him his career.
Johnson's rap sheet numbered about 100 arrests and five stints in and out of the Florida prison system when in 2006, he was arrested for burglary and sexual battery and molestation of an 8-year-old girl, while awaiting trial on charges of raping another woman.
He was mentally ill
The mental issues cause the drug use - not the other way around.
No sweat at all - the fix is in.
A lot of this draft made a lot of sense.
I think Detroit has had the most radical facelift so far.
28. Minnesota Timberwolves (via LAL): PF Jaden McDaniels, Washington
This is a decent spot for him, but there are too many polished players still available for him to be the best pick. He looks the part. He has the size, athleticism and skill. He just did nothing in his one college season. Maybe you can get excited about his potential and his high school production, but he simply disappeared last year.

"It's me coming to the table and saying, 'Talk to me about what that role would be.' You don't want me to play with the first five doesn't mean I'm not a quote-unquote starter. We need to balance it," he said. "You can't bring CJ and Dame off the bench. I'll do it. I'll make it happen."&
"But honestly I had to really sit down with myself and think about that. Because it's new," Anthony said. "I tried it in Houston, but it was only seven or eight games. This is new for me. If I sit here and say the thought of that wasn't hard or difficult to hear and take and let that play with your pride and your ego, yes it does. Especially coming from somebody like myself. But I had to take a deep breath and figure it out. We'll make it work."

The NBA said three Rockets players have returned tests that were either positive or inconclusive for Covid-19 under the NBA's testing program. Four other players are quarantined at this time following contact tracing.
Houston has one additional player who is unavailable due to an injury.
Because of this, the Rockets do not have the league-required eight available players to proceed with Wednesday night's game against the Thunder, the NBA said.
The Rockets, whose season opener against the Oklahoma City Thunder was postponed due to a lack of available players, have six players missing because of a pair of positive COVID-19 tests and contact tracing.
Reserve wing Ben McLemore and rookie forward Kenyon Martin Jr. tested positive this week. Center DeMarcus Cousins, point guard John Wall, shooting guard Eric Gordon and two-way guard Mason Jones are listed as out due to "health and safety protocols" on the NBA's official injury report, as they are required to quarantine after being determined close contacts.
Last Center to average 30+ PPG = Moses Malone back in 1982.
Shaq led the league with 29.67 in 2000 & David Robinson 29.79 in '94.
And a new Q:
Last year Harden and Beal both averaged over 30 a game.
The last season in which more than one player averaged over 30 a game was back in 2006 when 3 players did so. Who were those 3?
Anyone want to try that Q?

Odd that the Top 3 scorers in '06 were so high and all career highs. Wonder if there were any rule changes or expansion teams to help explain that.

Ellington finished 6 of 9 from 3-point range and is 40 of 67 from long distance in his last eight games. Ellington became the eighth player in NBA history to have at least seven straight games with four or more 3s.
"He just single-handedly spaced our floor on offense, when you have to give that much attention to somebody," Plumlee said. "Coach always draws up a good first play to get him off, he hits it and then it's like the rest of the night that team is worried about him coming off pin-downs. Then he is getting some cutting baskets because they are so worried about him coming off the screen. It just changes the dynamics of your offense."
I don't hear many calls for IQ to replace Elf as the starting PG anymore.
Black NBA bench players have shorter careers than white players, is bias a factor? (https://www.studyfinds.org/nba-bench-players-race-bias/)
One factor they don't mention is that some teams prefer to have a token white guy, likely worried the fan base and sponsors might not support an all-black team. This used to be fairly common, imo.
Things have changed some in the 21st C now that there are so many Euros in the NBA (though increasingly black Euros) that it's easier to have a talented white guy.
I wonder if any teams might keep a white scrub in order to have a 2nd white guy, and not just one lone white starter/rotation guy.
Could be.
Though China is the highest paying int'l league and I don't think many players opt for China when they are still NBA viable. I'm also not sure why white players would opt for China less. Though Chinese teams might prefer the optics of a Black player, perceived as higher level than Caucasians.
On the flip side, you'd think white players might be more comfortable going to Europe where they blend in, might have some relatives or ethnic connections, etc.
Could be.

This is a simplistic assumption but I think white players usually come from financially well-off families who can afford to send their kids to basketball camps or who have a father as a coach etc. So when their big-time NBA money-making days are done they go into coaching or some other vocation. You don't usually hear about white players having to go overseas although I think many do go after college. But the ones who make it to the NBA usually don't. I think your point about optics could also be a factor. Black players may also come into the league with more motivation to make money to support their families and friend groups. So they may not want to stick around making the NBA minimum when China can pay them better. Marbury and Bonzi Wells come to mind.

I still think a hefty offer to FVV could/would work.
Say $24M. Probably too much for TOR to match.
And FVV would have to think hard and long about turning down that kind of money and a chance to run his own team. So what if it's a $6M overpay. We'd have a legit starting PG (and one less $6M bench player). If Fred is on board, you could structure it starting at $25M and dropping $1M a year.
* Here's an unlikely hypo:
Would folks be willing to trade Mitch & the #8 pick to GSW for the #2 pick?
NYK would get Ball or Edwards, a blue chip G.
We'd lose a very promising young defensive C to move up.
GSW would get a long defensive cog and rim assaulter.
Mitch could look terrific there. A Mitch-Dray backline.
And they'd still get to draft a Vassell, Haliburton, Hayes type offender.
Could be a good deal for both teams.
Provided Knix hit on the pick and get a future AS type.
Mitch & Vassell for Ball. Or Mitch & TyH for Edwards. Some permutation like that.
With the cupboard bare, can Knix afford to do a 2-for-1 to upgrade at G?
Any takers?
#2 pick & Looney for #8 & Mitch
Would give us a C replacement.
If that goes too far, could be:
#2 pick & Chriss = #8 & Mitch
So kiid, you've come around on Halliburton? Didn't you say there was no way he was a Top 8 player earlier?
I still like Ty H. A shooter with some playmaking ability so can handle some PG. Seems to have a good feel on the court. A bit slight for D. From the little I saw, he reminded me of Rodney Hood (who for whatever reason hasn't reached his potential). Another comp would be Sacto's Bogdanovich who we might be considering in FA.
If we could nab Bogdanovic in FA and draft Vassal, that would really change the character of our team. Enter the modern NBA era. We'd still be looking for a PG -- but could draft one with the #27 or try to move up around the #20 pick to get a better selection. Lotta interesting PG's projected to go from 18 on down. Easier and less costly to move up near the bottom of the draft.
That's my plan.
I'd also be fine with throwing lots of money at FVV and adding Okongwu (or Vassal). FVV and Okongwu would toughen us up immediately. Another change for the better. And guys Thibs would like, guys who stick their nose in and make folks uncomfortable. [then grab best shooter available at #27, Bey or whomeva]
Rondo's a leader, you know the point guard, he's a leader," George said. "We're going to listen to him. I look at him as a leader, a leader of this group. He'll hold a lot of weight. He holds a lot of weight in the locker room. As he gets more comfortable within our system, getting games under his feet, he'll hold us accountable. That's what you need in the locker room, somebody that's going to say what needs to be said and get us going."
Doncic, who is 10-of-25 on potential tying or go-ahead shots in the final 30 seconds of a game in his career, a 40% success rate
that compares favorably to career totals of the league's most prolific clutch stars such as LeBron James (57-of-178, 32%), Kevin Durant (43-of-143, 30%) and Damian Lillard (37-of-106, 35%).
As should be obvious, most of my trivia questions are just info I read when someone achieves a historic milestone, and I find the list of previous players to do the same interesting. Occasionally I look up some stats, spot something interesting and make my own trivia Q, but that's likely less than 20% of the time.
I'll plop NBA Trivia in here from now on.
It's supposed to be fun and challenging.
Foir the last Q, I had no idea that West and Thompson had hit 60 before they turned 24. Jerry West had an amazing career. Before my time. Thompson was my favorite player in the late 70's. He just had such athleticism and force.
People would often say Thompson was a natural athlete, which I think in the 70's/80's was a way of discounting the success of black hoopsters. And while Thompson was no doubt a stellar athlete, like his follower Michael Jordan, he accentuated that by hard work. I once came across a 10 page excerpt of Thompson's autobio online. And he talks about in high school how they had a jump measurement set-up and so he'd practice jumping every day, usually with weights on his ankles. Wish I got to see him play more, but back in those days West Coast games were hard to come by.
Goodbye 2020-2021 Celtics. Thank you for an interesting season. Better health, next year!
Ainge is stepping down and Stevens is new the director of Basketball Operations.
So they made a change and replaced a guy, Ainge, who had a lot of success, and with just some decent luck, would have had more, with a very good and smart basketball guy, who's about 15-20 years younger.

Sorry. I don’t really consider baseball a sport.
Also I don’t consider LA my backyard, as thankfully it’s north of Camp Pendleton. TJ has a bigger influence in most of my town than LA since we’re TJ’s northern suburb.
Our culture would only benefit if we could remove football, baseball, nascar, and gay bashing completely from the equation.
And horse racing. That is some fucked up shit as well.

Popcorn? It's easy to sum it up when you're just talking about popcorn. We're sitting in here, and supposed to be talkin' 'bout the knee injury to the franchise player, and we in here talking about popcorn. I mean, listen, we're talking about popcorn, not a game, not a game, not a game, we talking about popcorn. Not a game. Not, not … Not the game that our team and our fans go out there and die for and cheer and be in and play every game like it's our last. Not the game, but we're talking about popcorn, man. I mean, how silly is that? … And we talking about popcorn!
Banks, I was born in Woodside, NY, sojourned in Texas and North Carolina for a few years each then returned to NY, but for most of the last Decade I’ve lived in San Diego. I chose San Diego primarily for all the ways its not LA and have never for a moment regretted my choice.
When I poop on Boston, it’s with love, not the visceral revulsion I try to experess when discussing Philly.
I suppose you could could paint me in a satellite of LA and therefore in its orbit, but I’d consider it a low blow.

We do our level best with what we got.
Sport is the circuses. Societies have created meaningless contests so masses of people can focus their least governable emotions into them as a counterbalance to punishing expressions of those same emotions in almost every other public sphere. At one point it was a great advance socially, and one could say it took us far in achieving its purpose. That said, it may well be time to update and upgrade our circuses.

I want to apologize to every Kings fan out there because you do not deserve this, Gentry said. The second half was a disaster and it was an embarrassment. We cannot do what we did in the second half. ... The fans dont deserve that.
The Kings ...28th in points allowed per possession, and haven't improved since Alvin Gentry replaced Luke Walton as head coach.
Sacramento has allowed 116.4 points per 100 possessions with Fox on the floor -- and just 97.9 when he sits! The first number is 2.5 points worse than the league's leakiest defense. The second is stingier than Golden State's league-best outfit!
League has the G-leaguers to fall back on. Interesting to see if thy go that route. Almost every team has a minor affiliate. (I think it was all but one a few years ago).
v. LAkes, DeRozan barely let any other Bull touch the ball last 5 minutes.

Finished with 38 points without taking one 3-pointer. Extremely rare these days.
Just relying on 14-18 footers. And FT's. LeBJ was fouling DeMar a bunch.
DeRozan has to be in the MVP convo.
Who expected the Bulls to be a top tier East team?
Kings interim coach Alvin Gentry, who had also been in the protocol, lashed out at his team after what he called an embarrassing performance.
"This is the most disappointed I've been in 34 years in the NBA," Gentry told reporters following the 127-102 loss. "I can honestly say that. That performance was absolutely ridiculous. We didn't play hard. We didn't compete. We gave up 19 offensive rebounds for -- I don't know -- 37 points or some astronomical figure. We didn't guard the ball. We didn't guard screen and rolls. We didn't follow the game plan -- all of those things -- and to be honest with you, it's the most disappointing game that I've been involved with."
If Porzingis just hits the rim with his shot Kings likely have just 2 ticks or less left, rather than the 3.8 after the 24 second violation. That wasn't KZ's fault. Brunson waited too long, didn't warp the defense at all, and then passed to KZ's knees with 3 on the shot clock.

Smart stunk offensively too. Tough to get all your guys with their A games on the road. Got Brown, got Al -which got them close.
and Kid is Tatum's biggest and earliest fan here in Elba.
HEH
Tatum was off the line (TL and Grant were the Celts primary rebounders on the foul shot). so was outside the arc. (there are rules you moron, not surprised you are ignorant of them) Tatum came in strong side on the miss, Al crashed the weak-side and was just a little late on his 2nd put back.
I don't think the loss of Steve Kerr for the Warriors is as big a deal as the loss of Morant for the Grizzlies.
Milwaukee is so envious of Boston!
Game tonight? Class? Anyone?
I don't know all of what I was expecting, but a 18-1 start to the game was not it, regardless.
It's the OFFENSE, Stupid.
Bam takes FIVE shots.
5.
PJ, Kyle and Max go 1-17 combined.
Flashback
BOSTON These teams, if not these precise players, have been through this before. Ten years ago, in the 2012 Eastern Conference finals, the Celtics came home from Miami with a 3 to 2 lead and a chance to close out the series in Game 6.
Then LeBron James happened. The Heat forward turned in an all time timely performance of 45 points, 15 rebounds and five assists, outscoring Boston s Big Three of Kevin Garnett 12 , Ray Allen 10 and Paul Pierce 9 by himself.
Two nights later, James scored 31 to end Boston s hopes of reaching the NBA Finals for the third time in five years. Instead, it was Miami going for a second consecutive year, en route to the first championship of its own Big Three of James, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh .
Six years later, circumstances were similar except for James uniform and the locations. He was back with Cleveland when Boston reached Game 6 of the 2018 East finals with another 3 to 2 lead. He puts up 46 on the Cavs court, then goes to TD Garden and eliminates the Celtics with 35 points, 15 boards and nine assists.
Boston tonight
In a walk
Brown carries, he travels, he's at the line.
This 2 minutes after ball went off him out of bounds and was awarded to his team
Hearing Miami got hosed. Shame.
Wrong, evidently
Any word on why Game 2 of Finals isn't tonight?
...or why it isnt what make most sense - 2 in 3 days, then change towns with an extra day, etc.
Thu Sat Tue Thu Sun Wed Game 7 Saturday
Current wager is Warriors +160 (100 gets you 260). Cant pass this up.
Enjoy the action.

Kid attempts to jinx the Celtics.
C's may get Gallo.....
Not sure what else they are doing.
"Run it back" is a bit optimistic.
